Sorry for being late but I have been swamped with work

in the past few days. After going through all the

discussion between you, Narsimha and eventually

Gauranga, I gather that the overhead Sun at Noon

decides (explains to some extent) that hora starts at

6 am LMT. In that case, why does the 7th hora (Noon)

on sunday belong to Mars? Are there any reasons for

this lordship? I mean even though the first hora on a

sunday would belong to Sun, is there any special

reason for Mars being the 7th hora lord or is that a

simple dereivation of the speeds of the planets? Even

if this may sound foolish, please explain!

 

Here is my attempt to answer the assignment for lesson

#6.

 

1. Determine the Hora at the time of birth in your

horoscope.Do the houses ruled by the lord of the hora

have any special significance in your life?

 

DOB 9th Dec 1972, saturday, Mumbai, India.

Longitude of LMT Zone: 72E50 = 72 + (50/60) = 72.84

Longitude of std time zone: 82E30 = 82.5

Longitude difference: 82.5 - 72.84 = 9.66

Time differnce: 9.66 * 4 = 38.64 = 38 mins 38 secs

LMT correction = + 38 mins 38 secs

Starting time for Hora at place of birth = 6 am 38 min

38 secs

Birth Time IST: 22.45 = 10.45 pm

Time difference: 22:44:60 - 6:38:38 = 16:06:22

Hora = 17

Lord of 17th Hora on saturday: Mars

 

 

I have a cancer ascendant and Mars is L5 and L10. At

the same time, Mars is Yoga Karaka for Cancer Asc.

Thus I am unable to attribute Mars' effects as a

result of being Yoga Karaka or Hora Lord.

 

Mars being L5 is conjunct L4 in 4th house, explains my

good education. However, Mars is also L10, and in 4th

house has not been so great as far as my occupation is

concerned.

 

2. Write a project or report starting your work during

the hora of the lord of tenth house in your chart.

 

The present hora at Washington DC is that of Mars,

5.15 PM on a wednesday. I plan to pick up more subtle

nuances of Jyotisha in the future. Will document the

progress on this.

 

3.Draw the chart for the swearing in time of the

President of your nation and determine the Hora/Hora

lord.

 

Will do this later.

 

4.Will you ever write a book or teach Jyotish? If so

during which Hora should you give the Guru Mantra to

your students? Does this have a link to the Bhava or

the arudha Pada of the Bhava.

 

To teach Jyotish or to write a book, one needs to have

a strong Jupiter as Guru and Mercury to communicate.

The 9th house is also important as there is an element

of Dharma in this. My Jupiter is L9 ans is posited in

6th house with Rahu in Sg. I am not sure whether the

debilitated Rahu will let me write or teach Jyotish,

however the best time to initiate such works would be

in the hora of Jup.

 

5.You would like to buy a new house.Which Hora would

be most suitable to negotiate for the house?

 

L4 (house), venus' hora would be the most beneficial

time. Negotiations or opponents are seen from 7th

house. L7 is Saturn in my case and in 11th house Ta.

Thus, there is a link between Saturn and Venus. Thus

Saturn Hora would be a good time to negotiate and

Venus hora would be a good time for Vastu Pravesh.

 

6.On which day would you look up a doctor.?

5th house signifies destruction of disease, thus L5

Mars hora would be a good time to see a doctor.

 

7.Which is the best day to see his Jyotisha? If the

Jyotisha only gives appointments to people on Sat/Sun,

then which time is most suitable?

 

Amk Sun signifies Counsellors. Thus, I would visit a

Jyotishi on a Sunday between 1 and 2 PM.

 

8.You had asked for an interview and the date given is

very inauspicious, say it is ruled by the lord of the

8th house.The time seems to be most inauspicious.What

would you do?

 

Japa would be the most easy thing to do. Ganapati

Atharvashirsha comes naturally to me, so I would

recite that.

 

9.Your spouse has asked for a divorce and has walked

out of the house. You dont want to break the

marriage.What would you do.?

 

Trying to convince my spouse in the hora of L7

(Saturn) on a friday (Venus) or hora of Venus on

Saturday would be the answer.
