Guest guest
Jaya Jaya Jagannath, Dear friends, I think I better discuss my feeling. We all recently done two lessons sent by Sarat Prabhu and Moola Dasa lesson by Gurudeva. We all spent lot of time to do our assignment and finally after do many struggles found answers for questions. But, I wonder why we spent lot of time on find answers for some of the questions, while the answers were on desktop. ( It is true we learn much by doing mistakes). For example in the 2nd lesson the first question was " Which graha should be given over-lord ship " The answer given in the lesson 1 " Creation " as below. " I am the Surya (Sun) of all luminaries and the king of all men. (Hence Surya is considered the king of all planets and the source of life (Jeewa) and also the nisargika atmakaraka in Jyotish " Actually I found this after do the assignment. But too late. Correct answer given by Gurudeva. Does this mean no one read the lesson carefully including me before do the assignment or something else ? 2nd one was Re. Moola Dasa, " Which yoga/ planets have contributed to the undying fame of Bagavan Sri Rama ? I believe everyone have a copy of COVA. The answer is there page number 17- 2nd para, with same horoscope.( Sri Rama's) But we had to spent again lot of time to find the answer. ( I think I am the one who given worst answer). Does this mean we all did not read this book carefully ? Actually I found this some time ago but after these lessons. I really feel very bad about my careless. Also comes to my mind how my acts against my little boys when they do a mistake like this. Does this show something about our Guru too ? Just a thought. Guest guest
Namaste Karu, You are right. However, The COVA or Jaimini Sutras, nor classic jyotish books are not the books to be read as standard literature. They are like books in university. One has to study them and keep notes. I've been studying the Cova for more than a few months, by writing down the principles, and illustrating them with charts in a separate notebook.I've managed to scrutinize the first 6.houses so far(COVA), Yestarday, I started with a 7.house.. Guest guest
Karu, Thank you for expressing your thoughts around our homework. Like you I too found the 'correct answers' after the fact and have felt most incompetent as a result. For myself I've come to realize I need time to let the information sink in and in spite of saying I want things to be simple I strive to complicate everything. At some level I guess I just didn't trust the answer to the first question could have been so obvious. As for the second question I'm still basically lost. What is this COVA I see so many references to? Have a good day and enjoy your studies. Sincerely, Phyl - Karu varahamihira (AT) eGroups (DOT) com Tuesday, May 30, 2000 2:27 AM [sri Guru] A Thought. Guest guest
Om Vishnave Namah Dear Phyl & Karu, This is a part of the natural learning process. The lessons are given at a relaxed pace and so are the answers discussed so that you will gradually get trained to catch the hidden points. Sometimes the answers are just below our nose and still we fail to see!! This will come with time and regular recitation of the Guru Mantra " HARE RAMA KRISHNA " . Phyl, COVA is the short for my second book " Crux Of Vedic Astrology " You can go to www.sjvc.net and read a chapter. I have also added the Preface for my latest book " VEDIC REMEDIES IN ASTROLOGY " which you all can download and read. Best Wishes, Sanjay - phyllis <aboutyou <varahamihira > Tuesday, May 30, 2000 1814 SJVC Re: [sri Guru] A Thought. Karu, Thank you for expressing your thoughts around our homework. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannath !!! Dear Phyl & Karu, We all learnt it much the same way as you all are doing now. When we flounder in darkness it is the Guru who guides us with his "Brilliance" (light/tejas). It is here that the sincere Japa of Guru Mantra helps us overcome the difficulties and see even in pitch-dark conditions. Vigorous and sincere japa of "Hare Rama Krishna" - the Guru Mantra of our parampara really works wonders. I say this out of my own personal experiences. I am sure each one of the students under the tutelage of Sanjay ji will attain a height unthought of and eventually reach SJVC to such glorious heights that would be hard to imagine. Lastly, Phyl, COVA is an abbreviation of the title of the book "Crux of Vedic Astrology" written by Sanjay ji. I hope you already have this as a reference book. Guest guest
Jai Jagannath !!! Dear Phyl, "Hare Rama Krishna" can just be chanted wherever you are without restriction to time and place. There are no restrictions regarding this. Restrictions apply in such mantras where "OM" is prefixed and in other specific mantras. All these rules are clearly explained in Sanjyjis forthcoming book "Remedies in Vedic Astrology" which is awaiting release at the earliest.
