The chart I am using for this assignment is my mother's chart. (See attachment).

 

Her ascendant is very close to the cusp. However, if the ascendant is taken as the end of Libra instead, in the Navamsa, the 7th house has jupiter in it's own sign. She had a very difficult marriage to a very unethical and manipulative person, ending in divorce around age 40, as soon as Venus dasa started.

 

She is also very artistic (painting), and used to be known for her dancing when at school (there was even a film made of one). So the Malavya yoga manifests itself fully in her chart.

 

She has also always been strongly religious, though in a somewhat unorthodox manner (Jupiter retrograde in 9th) by any particular religion's standards - 9th house Jupiter, exalted, 9th lord in 5th aspected by Jupiter, 9th 5th rulers in exchange.

 

She has also worked as a teacher for quite a bit of her life, more in keeping with 10th lord in 5th house than 10th lord in 6th. Later in life she worked as an advisor, again a 5th house type job.

 

(BTW I remember something about Jupiter being retrograde in a kona relating to a karmic curse - her early life and her later life are at complete contrasts. She leads a very happy and calm life now, after a lot of struggle)

 

These factors were used to confirm that the ascendant should definitely be early scorpio and not end of libra.

 

Analysis.

 

5th lord is strongly placed in the 9th, in exchange with the 9th lord and aspecting the 5th.Putrakaraka venus is strongly placed in the 7th. So progeny is not denied. However, 5th lord Jupiter is retrograde, and strong saturn aspects the 5th house and the 5th lord from capricorn, and rahu and mars are placed in the 5th house. Ketu aspects Putrakaraka venus. So there will be some problems associated with the children.

 

The association of sun, saturn, rahu and 12th lord venus (separative influences) with the putrakaraka, 5th house and the 5th lord, indicate separation from children. For considerable parts of her life, one or other of her children were separated from her, from very young ages. This is an ongoing feature of her life. But her relationship with all her children is good, and all have read reasonably successful lives without major problems.

 

The 5th house is influenced by saturn, jupiter, mars, rahu, sun, moon. The 5th lord Jupiter by saturn, rahu, and moon (by exchange).

 

The 5th lord has gained 6 amsas and is influenced by 3 grahas. She has three children.

 

She had three children. The first in vimshottri dasa Mercury - Sun. The second in Mercury-Rahu. The third in Mercury-Jupiter. Mercury is placed in the 6th house in rasi chart but rules the 5th in the saptamsa chart. It is also placed in the 5th from Saptamsa Lagnesh, an argala position. In saptamsa it is placed in the 12th house. Mercury is vargottama and retrograde, making it quite strong.

 

Saturn rules the 9th in her saptamsa and is placed with Rahu in the 5th, aspected by jupiter(graha drishti) and venus (rasi drishti). The child is a girl who wanted to be a boy and acted like one for a long time. The aspect of saturn on 5th lord and 5th house in rasi resulted in the first child being born with a twisted foot. However Jupiter aspects saturn in both the rasi and the saptamsa and this was later rectified by surgery. Prior to the surgery the child nearly had gangrene (rahu?) due to an attempt to straighten the foot using a cast. Taking Virgo as the ascendant of the first child, the ascendant ruler is in the 8th. Of her three children, the first has the most health problems. Mercury ruling the 10th house, the profession is in the information technology industry. As mercury is in the 8th, there have been many changes in career, all of a mercurial type. The aspect of venus has given the child artistic inclinations.

 

Mars rules the 7th in saptamsa, and is placed in Libra with the moon aspected by mercury (graha drshti) and jupiter, sun (rasi drishti). This is a daughter. A very forceful personality. Taking libra as the ascendant, moon is the 10th lord, in the ascendant. This child works in management, and has a public profile. Jupiter has rasi drishti on the 10th house. Mercury in the 7th indicates marriage while young (to a Gemini lagna native), lagna lord venus in the 3rd gives a lot of initiative, and sun in the 5th gives a son, though though 5th lord in the 12th with rahu resulted in death of the first child.Jupiter in the 8th house should give a full life span.

 

Mercury ruling the 5th in saptamsa is in the 12th and is aspected by mars and moon (graha drishti) and sun (rasi drishti). This is a boy. He is in sales in a management possition and extremely successful in his career. This does not really show up except as the aspect of Jupiter on the 10th house by both rasi and graha drishti. 10th lord saturn is in the 6th with Rahu. The mother's raja yog in the 5th is repeated in this child's in the 10th, both sharing the same ascendant. It has fully manifested in his life.
