Guest guest
Om Krishnaaya Namah Dear Pearl, >>In the meantime I would be grateful if you could explain the following words:<< I'll give it go :-) 1. Shiksha - I guess we could translate this as education, the teacher giving the knowledge to the student. 2. Janaki - A name for Mother Sita, it indicates that She was King Janaka's daughter (She was actually found under the ground when they were ploughing, which is why She was called Sita) 3. Danadakaranya - When Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita were exiled, they spent a lot of time at the Dandaka forest. 'Aranya' refers to forest I think. 4. Vanvas - Translates to living in a forest, and refers to Lord Rama's years in exile. 5. Simhasana - Yes, this is a Yoga posture, but in this context refers to the throne, and more specifically, Lord Rama's coronation ceremony. Note Simha means Lion - the " King " of the Jungle. 6. Eka Patni - One wife. Hope it's helped (and isn't wrong!), Hare Krishna, Pursottam __________ Get your free @.co.uk address at http://mail..co.uk or your free @.ie address at http://mail..ie
Guest guest
Dear Pearl and Pursottam. >Dear Pearl, > >>>In the meantime I would be grateful if you could >explain the following words:<< > >I'll give it go :-) > >1. Shiksha - I guess we could translate this as >education, the teacher giving the knowledge to the >student. KARU- Shiksya is Studend. We are studends or Disciples. So we are Sishya-s. Discipleship is Sishshathwa; Sishya- thathwa. We recite " Sishya Manthra. " since we are sishya-s. >2. Janaki - A name for Mother Sita, it indicates that >She was King Janaka's daughter (She was actually found >under the ground when they were ploughing, which is >why She was called Sita) Not clear to me. >3. Danadakaranya - When Lord Rama, Lakshmana and Sita >were exiled, they spent a lot of time at the Dandaka >forest. 'Aranya' refers to forest I think. Karu- Dandana is punishment. Karanaya is the action. Whole word is " under punishment. " >4. Vanvas - Translates to living in a forest, and >refers to Lord Rama's years in exile. Karu- Vana is forest. Vasa is living. Vanavasa , living in a forest. >5. Simhasana - Yes, this is a Yoga posture, but in >this context refers to the throne, and more >specifically, Lord Rama's coronation ceremony. Note >Simha means Lion - the " King " of the Jungle. Karu- Simha is Lion, consider the king of all animal. Asana means chair or some thing close to chair where we used to sit. Kings used their Chairs using lot of decarations. It is very special chair. It is Simha-asana. Sri Vishnu siting on a Lotus; Lotus is " Padma. " So It is Padmasana. >6. Eka Patni - One wife. > >Hope it's helped (and isn't wrong!), Eka is one. Dwi is two. Ekadasi Thiti, first titi. Pati- Patini is Husband and wife. So eka patni; one wife.. These all losely interpreted. Ther are lot of meanings for every single words and there are lot of names for every thing. I do not know any single Sansktutha word. But I was close to the place where this language used. It is some how very familier to me. Hare Krishna, Karu
