Guest guest
Dear Sanjay Rath, With all due respects where they are due. I realise this is a minor issue on the path of learning Jyotish. But as I feel this minor assault on my privacy may result in something bigger, let me attempt to defend it to the best of my abilities. I sincerely apologise for lacking the belief that you all somehow have chosen to share, in the utopian promise of the new communication technologies among other beliefs. Since when not submitting a personal picture has anything to do with openly associating with anything? Did anybody inform me at the time of enrolling in the course about this 'minor' extra requirement? And who knows what other 'minor' requirements will emerge in the process of the course? Why wasn't I allowed to hide under convenient excuses for not submitting the pix as apparently other members have been allowed for quite some time? BTW if you could talk to my non-cyber circle of friends you would instantly know that I associated as freely as my personality allows me and that I was quite excited about starting this course. Not all of us want to be prophets, gurus, public proponents of whatever. Some of us may not have the capabilities, others may not have the strength anymore. I have to add that I am interested in learning Jyotish and do try to disassociate myself from any particular school or guru excentricities as soon as I sense them, to the best of my abilities - that's my way. >SANJAY RATH wrote: >If he has so many problems about his picture when the entire learning is going to be free, then I cannot help. 'Problems' is not the right term and would lead astray the readers who do not know the history of the e-mail exchange on the topic between Sanjai and me. I can only say here that I was afraid the pictures could strengthen certain narcissistic tendencies which I was trying to work through for quite some time. I never said I was never going to submit a picture. Plus there is the issue that although I have lurked on the list for 3-4 months, I still did not know what I was getting into. Anybody with a bit of self-respect and self-awareness will admit that there is no help on the SJVC site for a complete complete newcomer to Jyotish to orient himself. There is no help on any other Jyotish site that I know of, and I've put my months of going over them. All of them are almost exclusively window displays for selling something, free or not so free. All of them assume knowledge of Hindu culture or at least gullibility from the knowledgeless. Why is the alleged 'free' status of the course used as the not so subtle stick to force a person into things that the person may not currently be comfortable with? Isn't this bordering on disrespect to God's plan? Don't we all know that 'free' learning (or anything else) is always more expensive than the paid one ... that's one of the reasons for money to be so popular, especially if one gets into the symbolic (and ritual) meaning(s) the means of exchange have held throughout history on our little planet ... If I pay, can I continue on the course without submitting my picture? (I guess after all this the price will be prohibitive even for somebody way above my humble means of existence.) >SANJAY RATH wrote: >In any case this is one thing I never understood. Why wasn't I sent the mantra or whatever other yagya to rectify the situation first before my disobedience was punished in front of the whole class ... The guru wants to be my spiritual father but refuses to give me the minimal love that even a bad father feels towards his off-spring, instead compensates with more stick ... should i continue with the psychological profile of the person behind the guru title ... In certain cultures the way I was treated in the situation is called harassment. You pull fast, Sanjaiji, and maybe this is what keeps you on top in these days of the still Wild Wild Web, but you have to work on your marksmanship. Sorry, I do not carry guns, I am a vegetarian It's not fair, Sanjayji, to blow in the open something which was meant for your private use. You've lost my respect. You still have a chance to regain it though ... if you decide to stay with what you are good at, organising the teaching of Jyotish ... let Krshna give power to my message, Vesco ----- I've noticed that periodically members on this and similar lists like to indulge in power sparring like the present one which more often than not results in strengthening the grip of the ego over one's faculties instead of gradually loosening it. (I am not comfortable yet with the Vedic terminology but I hope readers can translate it for themselves.) I do apologise for involving any casual observers and wasting your time. But I felt it was my duty to expose the method, however insignificant the trigger incident was. ____ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
