Guest guest
Om Ina Sasibhyaam Namaha Om Sree Gurubhyo Namaha Namaste friends, Today's tithi (lunar day) is Sukla Sapthami in the lunar month of Magha. This is called " Ratha Sapthami " and is a very auspicious day. Praying to Sun is good today. Happy Ratha Sapthami! On this very auspicious occasion, SJVC is happy to release " Jagannatha Hora Lite 3.0 " . Someone requested me a while ago to add ashtakavarga as it is very very basic & important. He said he started using only JHLite, but said that he had to open another program now and then to find ashtakavarga. He wondered why I couldn't have ashakavarga also. Originally, we planned to put ashtakavarga only in the commercial version, but we saw his point - ashtakavarga is very very basic. The free program needs it to be " complete " . Though people use ashtakavarga only in rasi chart, it is applicable in all vargas. Ashtakavarga is only a scheme of judging the strengths of planets from 8 references instead of just lagna or Moon or Sun. It is applicable in all the divisional charts. So I am giving it in this release. I am also giving ashtakavarga after reduction and sodya pindas. A colleague chided me for giving only tithi, yoga and not karana. Karana is a part of " panchanga " (5 essential parts). I added vaara (weekday) and karana. I also fixed an error in weekday calculation (and hence in upagrahas, shadbala etc) for births before 1900. Earlier, my ahargana calculation routine was assuming the birth year to be after 1900! I fixed a bug that was wreaking havoc if a " new " chart was cast while another chart was open. I gave the option of getting darker printouts for those who don't have a color printer. If you don't have a program that computes ashtakavarga in divisions, I strongly suggest upgrading to JHLite 3.0 from 2.0. You can download it at http://www.sjvc.net/software.htm or http://www.geocities.com/~astrowhiz/jhoral [bTW, Shiva, I remembered your suggestion and put a zipped version of the new executable on my homepage (second link above). Those who are PC experts and don't need an installer can download it, unzip it and copy the executable manually to the directory containing the program. This takes about one-third the time. See the second link above for more. If this sounds complicated, just download the complete installer as usual. It is less than 1 MB still.] Please keep the bug reports coming in. They will help me improve the program! May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha Sri Jagannatha Vedic Center
