Guest guest
Namaste Robert, > What is "PAMHO AGTSP"?? Is it Russian or some other language? It is a sincere salutation used by ISKCON devotees. It means "Please Accept My Humble Obeisances; All Glories To Srila Prabhupada". I hope you and other devotees don't mind my saying this. Please ignore my comments if you find them out of line. If it is written just as a formality, abbreviation is fine. But if it is a "sincere" salutation, why not take the effort of typing it everytime? After all, typing it everytime must give some pleasure. This reminds me of something. My wife once wondered why I wouldn't put "May Jupiter's light shine on us" in my signature file (so that I don't have to type it everytime). I promptly did it. But I didn't feel nice with this "automation". Typing it each time gives me pleasure. I still have it in my signature file (too lazy to change it back). But I delete the whole signature and type it manually each time I send a mail. Why not take the effort of saying each time "May Jupiter's light shine on us"? After all, it is not an effort wasted!!! This is just my way of looking at it. Please ignore my comments if you find them out of line. I see your point, although what comes next in the exchange of dialog between two pure devotees may be taken as more significant than the salutation, and thus they want to get right to the point. The exchange of love in verbal terms, following the salutation is more important than the salutation itself. "May Jupiter's Light shine upon us", is a very beautiful signature that blesses all, but it always comes after you have made your point. If it came first, and you were anxious to state something, you might keep it in your active signature file. Still not all devotees use this acronym, and thus many prefer to write it out. If devotees in our Sampradaya see each other in person, they not only verbally express respect and salutations, but they bow down touching their head to the ground before the other Vaishnava. Anyway, the internal sincerity of any devotee (or non-devotee) is known only by Paramatma, and not in external formalities. > This is just my way of looking at it. There will always be unique interrelations between entities among isolated groups, that outsiders might have difficulty understanding. Guest guest
JAYA JAGANNATH Dear Robert, Thank you for enlightening me. I have heard the other terms being used often and have found them to be very much like Vaishnava Greetings. The abbreviations are like slangs... It is very Natural and good to worship One's Paramguru with the term " JAYA " as this tithi is ruled by Jupiter and it can be translated as " We pray for the GLORY " (Victory is another translation). Thus Swami Goraknath always chanted and greeted others with the words " Jaya Guru Matsyendranath " . Narasimha writes " May Jupiters light shine on us " which is , perhaps a translation of " OM SOHAMSAMI " where OM is Tara Beeja..I have taught this earlier and Sohamasmi is the Vedic Prayer for enlightenment. If ISKON Devotees said " Jaya Srila Prabhupada " or " SRILA PRABHUPADA JAYATE " it would be most appropriate as then they would, by heart and deed dedicate themselves to the teachings of Paramaguru Srila Prabhupada. Everytime I see his chart, I can only admire it more. Dhanus Lagna with Jupiter and the Sun in the ninth (Parama Vaishnava) with Mokshkaraka ketu forming the perfect combination under which temples are built... " Mukteshwara Swaroopa " . In the last series of articles published by the express Starteller on Srila, I had but touched his life. I want to write a very detailed account taking into consideration his many followers, some of their charts, the chart of ISKCON (Zavisa gave me a chart, but this is wrong). I hope the ISKCON devotees make a sincere effort to construct the Chart of ISKCON. This has to be closely linked to the dasamsa of Srila. I have shown how the chart of the Republic of India is closely linked to the Dasamsa of Babu Rajendra Prasad the first President of India.(Article in the Astrological Magazine Feb 1996). The other greeting PAMHO or Please accept my humble Obeisances is, perhaps a translation of " Namaskar " . This word Namaskar having the root NAMAH in it cannot be replaced and is by itself, the perfect Vaishnava greeting. I don't know how many of you have had the good fortune of meeting Srijukta MAHANIDHI SWAMI. He is a Maharaj. He is among those very few Vaishnava's on seeing whom, my head touches the floor. His humility and dedication, his sacrifice and perfect renunciation, his tolerance of all spiritual sects is a perfect example of adopting the teaching of the Gita into real life. (Taurus Lagna with the Sun, Moon & Mercury in the ninth house). I am planning a trip to Vrindavan with all SJVC members for his darshan & blessings. May He bless this forum. Yasomati prabhu had sent us Shyamasundara prabhu's book analyzing this question and we were waiting for Your opinion on this. Is this going to be published on the list? > Are there any conclusive points in His chart proving Dhanus and disproving Makara Lagna? I'm a beginner to have an opinion in this question, so I would like to hear Yours. > I like Dhanus however, as this is the 9th house in the natural horoscope beginning with Aries, so suitable for a Mahabhagavat. Of course this is not an argument against makara lagna, as there must be definitely many associates of Lord Caitanya who had Makara Lagna. > > Anyway, I'm interested. > > Your shishya, > > Gauranga das > > > > The other greeting PAMHO or Please accept my humble Obeisances is, perhaps a > > translation of " Namaskar " .
