Guest guest Posted September 28, 1999 Report Share Posted September 28, 1999 JAYA JAGANNATH Dear Tapani, They used a stick (even till recent times) called CHAYANGULA to measure the length of the shadow etc. The stick was very straight and was hollow inside and by gazing at the peak of mountains through it, they could measure the height (angles and distance).
