(1) In your book, you gave Jayalalita's lagna at 20Ge44 and my rectification takes it just above 21Ge00. As you know, D-7 lagna changes at 17.1428 deg and 21.4286. So my rectification does *not* alter D-7 lagna. We both have her D-7 lagna in Li. (2) With the time given in your book (2:34 pm), I am giving the cusps below. Lahiri ayanamsa is used. Lagna: 20 Ge 43' 34 " GL: 17 Li 45' 35 " (Approach 1) GL: 16 Li 31' 47 " (Approach 2) With approach 2, GL in D-10 has to be Pi if lagna in D-10 is Sg. If you want GL to be Ar (which we both prefer), lagna has to be Cp. However, with approach 2, you can have Sg lagna and Ar ghati lagna in D-10 for a short while. Lagna changes from Sg to Cp *after* GL changes from Pi to Ar! Though I am not sure, I think you prefer approach 1 (Varahamihira's advice). In that case, you do *not* have to reconcile with my rectification of Cp lagna in D-10 to get GL in Aries. Now I will describe the two approaches I mentioned. Approach 1: Sun's first rays are visible. Upper tip of Sun's disk is still below horizon, but Sun's rays are visible due to atmospheric refraction. I used " apparent topocentric " positions here and let Sun's center be below the horizon by the sum due to (1) Sun's radius and (2) average expected atmospheric refraction. Approach 2: Sun's upper limb is truly on the horizon. I used " true topocentric " positions here and let Sun's center be below the horizon by the an amount due to Sun's radius. [Note: " True " position here refers to making a correction for the finite speed of light. Light takes some time to come to us from Sun. The position where we see Sun is the position a little while ago, truly speaking.] Of course, there is also approach 3, which takes Sun's center on the horizon. I skipped it as I don't think either of us is interested in that. > I think you should be using the very > accurate new program for this. Yes, I am. May Jupiter's light shine on us, Narasimha
