Guest guest
hello rajarshiIt is my understanding from study of vastu principles that one should keep the head end of the bed in the south, south-west end or corner of the bedroom so that our head faces north for sound and restful sleep. It gives a good grounding effect to us when we sleep. But take care that our feet are not pointing straight at the door entrance to the room. In fact, never to place bed with the foot end pointing directly at the doorway of the room. Move the bed slightly to avoid this situation. Married couples and pregnant woman in early stages especially should not keep head in the east or southeast end/corner as it is the fire corner which could lead to damage to the fetus or spontaneous abortions.Hope that helps. So to optimise our well being, a healthy diet, practice of Yoga or Tai Chi and a satvic way of life is very important, hence the guidelines from the practice of Ayurveda nourish the Mind and Body. This Soul in the Body has to occupy some cosmic space, so the importance of adherence to Vastu guidlines is also important to limit any additional stress which we all know is quite rife nowadays. One of the few thngs at our disposal where we can our exert our free will, is to change our immediate environment, so Vastu remedies also have to be looked at for behaviour patterns for hyperactivity and inactivity. Granted, that its difficult to observe perfect Vastu guidelines for the 'average city dweller', but the idea is to minimise the Vastu defects as far as possible. If you consider a third of ones life is spent sleeping when the body uses its restful state to rejuvinate and heal itself naturally, sleeping in the correct direction is very very important. Generally, it is recommended for one to sleep with one's head facing South with a few exceptions. So Jyotish, Ayurveda and Vastu all has to be be considered to bring peace to the Mind, Body and Soul. They are inseperable, each with their own diagnostic tools but at the same time working in perfect harmony.Best WishesBipin= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = CC: ; sohamsa bipinpragDate: Fri, 16 May 2008 18:19:13 +0530[Om Krishna Guru] Re: [Jaya Jagannatha] Re: Vaastu Shilpa - Jaydeep and Bipin Om Namo Bhagavate ParamguraveDear ShivNamasteThe application of Vastu entails the proper appeasement of the Vastu Purusha as per guidelines in the various sacred texts. This requires a number of considerations, but the understanding and objective is to balance the elements, unblock any prana that is not flowing and to try and synchronise with the natural universal energy flow in the home so that we attract peace and harmony of Mind, Body and Soul.As described by Jaydeep and Swee, all the various energies are superimposed over each other over the property. As pointed out by Swee, Vastu operates in a 3-dimensional form, so length, breath and height is equally important. Amongst other factors, correct room placement within the dwelling is also important, so where you sleep and how you sleep is also important. To answer your question... The body has its own a magnetic field with North at the head and South at the feet. We know from basic magnetism that like poles repel and opposite poles attract.Sleeping with ones head to the North direction causes undue stress on the body as the North polarity of the Earth will repel that of the head resulting in disturbed sleep and health. Sleeping in the East Direction is beneficial for spiritual advancement and learning, whilst West is indicated as neutral. Im not sure if Swee has any reference from the texts where direction for sleeping has been discussed, but I recall one Vastu Pandit once mentioned that Sage Markandeya who was able to conquer death, is said to have stated that a person acquires strength and longevity by placing his head in the South. There is also one pastime when the initial body of Lord Ganesha was headless, it was summoned that the head of any creature sleeping with its head to the North should be brought for placing on Lord Ganesha, so im not sure if this is related and if this is one of the reasons why sleeping with the head in the north is not considered auspicious. I agree wth Jaydeep that the type of house you get is based on your punya as indicated in the chart. Taking the analogy he used further, I bought a modest house that was not perfect according to Vastu. Although it had a South entrance suited to my Lagna, the East was completely blocked. Over time I was able to effect an alteration to the house, so when my situation changed, the timing I guess through dasha change, I was able to effect most of the changes according Vastu without major structural changes by changing the entrance from South to East. This immediately had the effect of dramatically improving the energy flow of the home. So, the super structure stayed the same but by exerting my free will, I was able to change my immediate enviroment for the better.I look forward to further insight on this to learn more on the subject.Best WishesBipin 2008/6/17 rajarshi14 <rajarshi14: Respected Membersw, Can someone provide any pointers regarding finding out from a natal chart, which direction should an individuals head be facing while sleeping? Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate ParamguraveDear LynnNamasteAccording to my understanding, there is no benefit from sleeping with ones head towards the North as per your email. I would agree that sleeping in diagonals is not desirable as it is generally accepted to follow cardinal directions as per Vastu guidlines. I think its perfectly fine for married couples to sleep with their head towards East as an alternative direction if they choose to lead a spiritual grihasta life. East direction is recommended for children who are wanting to enhance their studies. People who are advanced spiritually, generally dont require much maintenance of their body as they normally follow a satvic diet and do a lot of sadhana, so sleeping East for them is more beneficial. For those individuals who are more inclined to leading a material life and not following a satvic diet, need all the universal energy so that they get good sleep and allow their body to rejuvinate itself in this restful state by sleeping in South direction. Sanjayji quoted on this subject before as ... " One should never sleep with head in the north. Sleeping with head towards south ensures long life. While on a journey, it is advisable to sleep with head towards west. " Further, one can sleep in the correct room as recommended and also sleep in the right direction and still have lots of challenges, so overall Vastu assessment of the building and compliance is necessary, because if we havent received blessings from Mother Bhoomi for occupying her space and pacified the Vastu Purusha, then any geopathic stress and other defects would still affect our sleeping. There is more to just sleeping in the right direction. Guest guest
Dear Bipin and Lynn Thanks for your replies. I had one question. Since I have nevere studied vastu my knowledge of the same is negligible. Now you mentioned that sleeping with head to south is good, I have heard the same from another person as well. Now as per the kalchakra we have jup in south and mars in south as per dig chakra. Now normally as I have read and seen in applying remedies specially, the digchakra is used for icreasing the positives and the kalchakra can represent the negative qualistis of the planet. So why do we choose south based on the kalchakra and not consider mars (Yama) which lords te digchkara for south? Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate ParamguraveDear RajarshiNamasteYou do pose a very interesting question. There are many ways in which one uses the kalachakra. Ive read that a very effective use of using the kalachakra is that if you follow the direction of your tenth lord in the digchakra it will bring you success. If you follow the 10th lord in the kalachakra it will bring you destruction. Further, ive also read that when doing remedies or poojas, one aligns with the energy opposite that of the kalachakra, so if North is considered bad, then sleeping opposite to its direction being South as per kalachakra would be good. Im sure there is amore lucid explanation for this. Looking forward to input from the others on the list for further guidance on this question.Best WishesBipinOn 18/06/2008, rajarshi nandy <rajarshi14 wrote: Dear Bipin and Lynn Thanks for your replies. Guest guest
Dear Bipin, You have perfectly analysed and represeted the doubt I had. Now as I think of this question, a deeper conflict strikes me. It must be because my understading is weak or incomplete. We use the oppostie planet in kalchakra to control or remedy. As you said, north/south thing. Now when we use the opposite planet, wont the negatives associated with the opposite planet increse? Since we are dealing with the kalchakra here?. Instead if we increase and work with the digchakra corresponding to the kalchakra plant cuaseing problems, will that not help in more clean way? Some guidance of this would be really helpful. -Regards Rajarshi "This above all: to thine own self be true!" - Hamlet--- On Wed, 18/6/08, Bipin Prag <bipinprag wrote: Bipin Prag <bipinpragRe: [Om Krishna Guru] Direction of head while sleeping Date: Wednesday, 18 June, 2008, 12:35 PM Om Namo Bhagavate Paramgurave Dear Rajarshi Namaste You do pose a very interesting question. Guest guest
Jaya Jagannatha Dear Rajarshi, Namaste >We use the oppostie planet in kalchakra to control or remedy. As you said, north/south thing. Now when we use the opposite planet, wont the negatives associated with the opposite planet increse? Since we are dealing with the kalchakra here?. No, we don't. We use the varga chakra for remedies. 4th from it and not 5th from it, which is the opposite - worst enemy! I think I have explained that before. If you have the book Hora Ratnam, the varga chakra is in there wich was also explained some two years ago on my list. If it is Kalachakra, the two planets in the same direction - one inner and one outer helps to " control " damage to each other. love, Swee On Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at 09:38AM, " rajarshi nandy " <rajarshi14 wrote: >Dear Bipin, > >You have perfectly analysed and represeted the doubt I had. Guest guest
Om Namo Bhagavate Paramgurave Dear Swee Namaste You are correct that Sleeping with head in South as being good is a generalisation and and one has to look at the natives chart for final recommendation. Guest guest
Dear Swee and Bipin, Thanks for your valuable inputs. Swee, I will try and look up the old lists. You said it had been explained two years back, was it in this forum? Actually I just joing this and came to know of SJC roughly 3/4 months back. I will try and search old mails if it is in this . And will also try to get the book. Thanks once again. So generally speaking, if we take the lagna as east in a chart and find the direction of the best placed planet in the chart and take that as the direction to point the head while sleeping, will it be ok? -Regards Rajarshi "This above all: to thine own self be true!" - Hamlet--- On Thu, 19/6/08, Bipin Prag <bipinprag wrote: Bipin Prag <bipinpragRe: [Om Krishna Guru] Direction of head while sleeping Date: Thursday, 19 June, 2008, 8:59 AM Om Namo Bhagavate Paramgurave Dear Swee Namaste You are correct that Sleeping with head in South as being good is a generalisation and and one has to look at the natives chart for final recommendation. Guest guest
Jaya JagannathaDear Rajarshi,NamasteSorry, I wrote it on a different list, so you will not be able to find it on the current one. Based on the same, we also learnt it in Jaimini class last year.Yes, provided that this direction is not the opposite direction of the front door as this is the place where the most negative concentration of energy "congregates" before it disperses/dissipates and the result is that calamities, illnesses etc., will befall. Generally, it is the 4th.Say that the front door was made during the month when the vastu puman's head was pointing east, the cumulative energy sits in the West.Counting the 4th place from the East, then SE, S, we get SW. This is the place where the bread winner should sleep and have his head pointed towards the direction of the South and Westerly direction, but never directly in the West as 5th from the East direction is always the direction/sector of the house where negative influences will happen. Say Rahu happens to be there aspected by badhakesh Sani, this area/sector will give the most eerie feeling/uneasiness/diseases/bad dreams etc. and all things NOT nice to happen....reiterating that if main door is East and you sleep with your head facing West. The West is said to be the direction ruled by the Pitris. My understanding of Pitris are the Rishis/super-humans where your gotra is named after. If shraddha is not offered, there should be caused to worry about his hurt ego for he might become the cause of your bane, ails and downfall. But often times, this can be appeased with the placement of the 5 gems, selection of grains etc placed in the nabhi/navel of the building. The alternative is, if one is to move out of the place and elect a time that is in synchronicity with the vastu puman head, offer vastu puja ad then move back in. Hope this is better understood.love,SweeOn 19 Jun 2008, at 11:10, rajarshi nandy wrote:Dear Swee and Bipin, Thanks for your valuable inputs. Swee, I will try and look up the old lists.
