Guest guest
Om Brihaspataye Namah Dear members of this thread, Namaste Very interesting discussions. I just wanted to throw in my opinion, because I myself have dabbled in the occult. The traditional meaning of occult can be described as " secret " . Occult traditions are generally secret traditions passed down to those who are initiated. Many western Magickal systems and organisations have come up due to occult research and the application of this research. As far as western occult traditions go, they popularly focus on the Kabbalistic 'tree of life' and apply these concepts to tarot, astrology, magic practices etc. These may or may not include paranormal activities- i guess that is up to the user of the knowledge. The best book I have read regarding an eastern view to paranormal experiences is written by His Holiness Bhakti Tirtha Swami (Swami Krishnapada) called Spiritual Warrior One. Regarding Angels- I must say that I beg to differ. Angels can be called to help by anyone who is sincere, regardless of their nature. I have had personal experiences with these beings and I can say that it was not occult at all. In fact, it made me believe in God's love even more! Angels are not demi-Gods. I believe that Angels are like workers in a local office, and the demi-God is the General Manager. If you need some quick help, you can ask a worker to ASSIST you and you can get something done. But with the General Manager, you cant just walk up to Her/His door and say please help me. You have to fill in the relevant paperwork, make the appointment, be presentable (mantras, puja, fasting etc) However, I am wary of people who " speak " to spirits. From what I have read on Angels, they dont talk to people directly. They communicate in subtle but loving messages that prompt a person to make GOOD and POSITIVE choices in life. These messages can be in dreams, in inspiring thoughts, in good positive coincidences. Negative entities are a whole different ballgame. The other " Angel " concept was researched by the Golden Dawn society and the somewhat contraversial character, Aleister Crowley. He believed in summoning a " Personal Gaurdian Angel " before one did a tarot reading or did a ritual. His writings are very esoteric but put simply, this " Angel " is none other than one's Istha devata. Thanks to Hollywood and now Bollywood- occult has come to mean all things that scare people and also fascinate them. I guess if one wants to be entertained or scared, one can believe that nonsense. Ultimately, we should serve our Gurus with love and devotion. If we waver of the path, the Angels can lovingly help us get back on, so we can serve our Gurus better- with recharged batteries of love and devotion. Only the Guru can light the inner lamp of knowledge which takes one back Home, back to Godhead. Guest guest
Dear Bivash, Try reading Sri Aurobindos Life Divine. He has given terrific insights into the occult and in fact it was from his book that the word " warriors of light " came into existence. Yes Angels to not speak as you or I speak. Though the conpcet of Angels used in enochian magick is i find a little weird and difficult. Those beings (enmochian) generally dislike being summoned or evoked (not invoke), the jump between planes is too disturbing. -Regards Rajarshi , " Bivash Ramroop " <bivaash108 wrote: > > Om Brihaspataye Namah > > Dear members of this thread, > Namaste > > Very interesting discussions. Guest guest
Dear Bivash, Yes do read that book, its not just abuot occult but the whole fundamental dichotomy in the world of spirituality is brilliantly analysed in there. One of the finest books of the last century on these topics. The question of good and evil, the pull between man's base nature and his higher nature, the idea of pain leading to higher truths. Everything has been analysed in there. Beautifully. Just a small food for your thoughts. In western occult traditions you will find summonings and evocation but NEVER invocation. Only the raving mad actually ever try invoking something. Where as in our oriental tradition we invoke deities. Of course only the highest people can do a real invocation but generally all rituals are finally aimed at a complete continuous invocation of the deity (istha) in the aspirants body/mind complex. Try and analyse why this difference of attitude - -Regards Rajarshi Bivash Ramroop <bivaash108 wrote: Om Brihaspataye NamahDear Rajarshi,NamasteThanks for the book recommendation!
