guruji , guruji the astrologer who told me that i have lagna

vargottama also told me that its a very rare occurence & it will

brng enormous fortune of financial kind for me , is it true ? also i

wud like to know what would be my overall financial condition & how

wud i do at ma studies , as currently im doin B.tech in electronics

& communications & i'm not very good at studies & thuswud like to

Dear Pranav,

 

Here are 2 cents from a student:

 

Lagna is your intelligence and ideals - paka lagna, the sign where the

lagnesha is placed, is the body. Naturally when the intelligence works

well the structure it upholds will excel. So in this manner good health

is indicated.

 

When the Lagna is Vargottoma it means the Lord Narayana has blessed your

lagna. One technique you can employ for any planet is counting the

number of signs it has traversed in the zodiac starting with its

placement in Rasi – lets say aries – to the sign position in

navamsha – lets say leo – which in this case gives the tally 5.

So the 5th house is a domain of influence for this example planet.

 

If we count a Vargottoma planet then we count from say Aries to Aries =

1. So a Vargottoma planet has to do with Lagna and Lagna has to do with

fame. The Lord may give you fame for something. Here we have to remember

that navamsha is your relationship with the divine – hence Narayana

comes into the picture – he is blessing you. Of course Lagna also

has to do with health and for that reason also longevity. The Sun, the

karaka for health, is the main karaka for the Lagna and Parashara

explicitly mentions that a poorly aspected or weak Lagna makes one

sickly.

 

There is more to this though. The relevant dasa for a Vargottoma Lagna

is satabdika – and the karaka for this particular udu dasa is Venus

and Venus is associated the Mrityunjaya. Its said that the Mrityunjaya

mantra and/ or its Giita is very very stong in the body of someone with

a Vargottoma lagna – it can virtually bring you back from the

dead!!! (don't try to verify this at home in your kitchen!!)

 

The main protection here is from the calamities of the nodes – one

is protected from them with a Vargottoma Lagna.

 

Also in terms of the intelligence itself we can conceive of special

qualities – maybe the gurus can confirm this - that the Lagna gets

digbala from a Vargottoma position. Hence the devata Ananta and its form

of intelligence will become very strong. Ananta is the serpent upon

which Vishnu rest in the ocean.

Pakesh shows the state of the body and when weak it will give problems

in its dasa. Dispositor shows source of energy.

209.

Ad 1) Does your point re. ractive and active intelligence exclude that

Paka Lagna is not the body then? I have been taught that Lagna proper is

the concept of the native and it deals with intelligence, ideals and

fame.

I am happy to learn the salient points that the Pakesha indicates the

source of energy. Mine is in the 12th bhava and I have always felt that

meditation gives energy.

 

Ad 2 ) In reading the very same source – VAUD p. 207 the part on

Satabdika Dasa - I find at the bottom in the footnotes that " A

strong Venus makes a person mentally (Moon) strong with a very strong

spirit (Sun) as Venus causes the neechabhanga (cancellation of debility)

of the Sun & Moon as it lords over the signs of their

exaltation/debilitation respectively. The two dasa based on this

principle of Venus are the Dwadasottari dasa and the Satabdika dasa.

So you are correct in a sense that its not directly the karaka but it

does has a very strong bearing on this particular dasa as far as I can

judge from Sanjays writing.

 

Ad 3.) It is my distinct understanding from my recent blessing in

Jyotish vidya that the Lagna can have digbala.

 

1 .) Dear Pranav, I have to correct myself a bit on which devata is

blessing you. Actually its Shiva and not Narayana. Normally if a planet

is Vargottoma we say that this planet is blessed by Narayana - but in

the case of a Vargottoma Lagna it is Shiva – anyway there is a spark

of divine intelligence.

 

If you were to pick up Sanjay Rath's book Vimsottari & Udu dasa

(VAUD) you can read that the characteristics of Vargottoma Lagna is due

to Venus and Shiva – Shiva handed down the Mrityunjaya mantra to

Sukracharya (Venus) hence the linage of Shiva is associated with Lagna

in Vargottoma position. It gives very strong idealism, and the strength

to fight even hopeless causes where all odds are against you. The

ultimate counter odd is naturally death and if you can defeat even that

then……………… I am sure you can see what I am saying.

Regading digbala the list is different

than I remembered:

 

Indra (Surya), = East

Agni (Shukra), = Southeast

Yama (Mangala), = South

Rakshasa (Rahu), = Southwest

Varuna (Shani) , = West

Vayu (Chandra) , = Northwest

Kuber (Budha), = North

Ishana (Guru), = Northeast

Brahma (Lagna) = down -

Ananta (Ketu). = up

 

Hence it may be speculated that the person may excel in work related to

Brahma

And not Ananta which is ketu. Still learning :-)

Dear Anders, Namaskar

Below you have given the directions of the digchakra below and the

digpalakas who preside over them.

 

But, a planet gets digbala only in the four kendra directions where

energy is moving inwards to strengthen the native.

Here Jupiter and Mercury have digbala in East - Lagna,

Sun and Mars in south - Tenth house,

Saturn and Rahu in west - seventh house,

whilst Moon, Venus and Ketu get the same in north - fourth house.

Dear Visti

 

You are right of course - I just meant to show

all the directions and their association with a \

specific intelligence. 

 

Would you then say that there exists a possibility that Lagna can have

digpala and resultant infusion of the intelligence of Brahma - I was

tilting towards this due to the recent teachings I received.

 

And then the question of ketu having digpala arises as well - what might

that be?

1. I dont like this generalizations. Lagna is also

body ie. nearly all classics mention that Mangal in Lagna gives scars

in the body.

2. Energy coming from five types of Agni comes from Varesh.

3. Yes, I read this paragraph about Ve and Satabdika but thats more

philosophical than technical.

 

4. Digbala in loose sense of

strength/direction of dhi...all right. Not in the strict sense as

Jyotish term presented in Shadbal chapter.

5. Vargottam gives important issue related to fame, if malefic infuence

AL this can be not so auspicious.

thanx for enlightening me on the particular ssue of lagna

vargottama , sir i'm a student & as a matter of fact , not very good

one , i'm not so good in studies & this pattern has been consitent

for the past 3 yrs , ma performance has gone down drastically , i

Dear Pravesh here are 2 cents form a student,

 

Well, currently you are undergoing sade-shani – the seven years of

shani. This transit is right now over your Moon and Lagna and its also

in a position where it by its kantarka shani aspect hampers both your

career and your image in society. ( has graha drishti on the 10th house

where your Arudha Lagna is ) In other words you have a double hit from

shani at this time in your life.

 

This has been going on for some years now. You will feel less energy,

slow, depressed, stressed and lazy and so on. The Moon has been taken

over by shani as if he is sitting on your head – you get the

picture? You are a little better of than other people since shani in

mothers sign of karka isn't as bad as other placements so its

probably more mental in your case = depression. The remedy for this

malady is Sri Rudra Chamakam. Do it everyday while the 7 years of shani

is going on. Ultimately the remedy is the Mritunjaya mantra which I am

sure you can find somewhere.

 

The Moon itself - though very beautifully placed in Kendra - is in a

shapa due to aspects on it by Mars and Rahu. Further Saturn and Rahu

(again) are giving the aforesaid aspects from the trines to the Moon so

you do have a propensity for depression or moodiness and may also

experience a feeling of being punished. Old issues due to your childhood

– there is a Shakti yoga with both Rahu and Moon in trines from

Lagna – may also have surfaced. You should do some mantras for this

and due to the moons position in Kendra you can definitely come out of

this.

 

There is a change when shani exits into the 2nd house from your

Moon/lagna which is imminent – Around the 16th of July this year

shani is going into leo - your mind will not be so directly affected

– but be sure to eat good things.

 

Work: well you have a beautiful Malavya Mahapurusha yoga in the 4th

house and Venus is Vargottoma – which means several things. The

digpala will give you Agnis intelligence which translates into ability

in areas of Jyotish, foresight, knowledge in general due to a sharp

mind. The Mahapurusha yoga in itself constitutes an aspect of Shivas

intelligence ie. That of Vamana – you have the good side of jala

tattva. Jala is people and since your Tithi is ruled by Jupiter I do not

see how your people skills can fail. You must posses charm, empathy,

intuition about folks and so on and so forth and also a good measure of

patriotism. Since its Vargottoma Gauri is blessing you. You may also

like to hear that since the Sun is Vargottoma in the 2nd sadashiva is

blessing you as well.

These 2 planets – the Sun and Venus – can give you fame.

 

Venus's position should also make your mind strong – and make

you able to take in knowledge easily. So the Shani thing that's

going on now is only temporary. The 11th house which is assimilation of

knowledge is fine and teaching (the 2nd ) should also be ok.

However, one note on this – Shani is permanently in the 5th which

means that your mental processes can be a bit blocked. So this has to be

rectified some day. Your planning and your sense of future is hampered

by this and shanis current transit isn't exactly helping this.

 

Further your attitude to work is fine – Mercury and Mars can tangle

a bit but your general attitude is good – you are willing to fight

for it. ( Mars 10th ruler in 6th Bhava )

 

Generally it seems your career and livelihood is OK. Your Amatya Karaka

and your Dara Karaka are not in adverse positions (Marana Karaka Sthana)

to your Atmakaraka. There is however a Marana Karaka Sthana position of

Dara karaka Rahu from the Lagna – this has to be remedied in order

to ensure your careerluck and earnings.

 

Q to the gurus : which remedy for Darakaraka Rahu in the 9th Bhava? And

also when considering that Pravesh is still a student – what is the

more important: DK Rahu in the 9th or the remedy of the 5th house shani

which can block anyones future.

 

Now in terms of the actual physical direction you should move in then I

look at your beautiful Moon which have a digpala seen from AL – this

is great so just move physically in the northwestern direction and you

will find success there. Since it's a movable sign you may have to

go quite a distance – we are not talking commuting here.

 

In Dasamsa your Mars rules the 2nd house which is your work motivation

– so in terms of your work you are interested in machines and Mars

is in the 4th Bhava so your `office' is more full of machines

than people. Also when looking at the 10th from the Moon in Rasi we see

the sign aries once more – so again machines/ engineering is your

field of interest.

 

Currently you are running a 6th house Narayana D-10 antardasa which may

lead you to thinking that you should change your career since September

2006. Is this interpretation correct?

 

There are 2 planets in the 6th house in D-10 so you are more likely to

find yourself as an employee than an employer. However……see below

Q.

 

Q: here for the gurus : Mercury is the ruler of the 7th (d-10) and well

placed in the 9th though in Mars's sign – the giver of jobs the

Sun gives vaiparaita argala on it but also gives virod argala on as well

as lords the 6th. How is this standoff – who wins? 6th or 7th Bhava

in d-10? All the other argala has to be included as well I presume.
