Dear sir, During any shubh karam we have been asked for gothra by purohit and he used to worship after knowing our gothra and saying smthing about jatherey.. Jatherey are our forefathers and our rituals and custom traditions selected by them.. in some communities if a person did not remeber them or does not follow rituals and tradition then jatherey become angry and smthing wrong start happening with that family.. its not a joke even i have seen this practically..... in some communities the Rules for jatherey are very strict and in some just normal.. Note jatherey and pittra are can hve same properties but they are not same... hey differ.... So you should ask about this from your father that whether whre are your jatherey what are the custom and traditions in your family and how to worship your

dear sir, you have to ask your father that what are your rituals and what are the customs of family and where you worship your forefather... if your father does not know this, then simply on every amavasya just make special food for one person (on the name of jatherey) and offer it at any temple....
