Namaste. I appreciate your keenness in trying to debate the meaning

of the fundamental word " nadi " which so happens to be the main topic

& name of this group.

Please refer - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadi_(yoga)

I quote from wikipedia here to dispel all your doubts " Nâ & #7693;i

(Sanskrit: channel or vein; Tamil: psychic nerve) " .... " Amongst these

ducts or nadis, three are of the utmost importance: the Medullar

Shushumna....The Nadi Susumna, whose substance is the threefold

Gunas, is in the middle "

Nadi means " nerves " but it is not in the phsical plane, but in the

pshychological plane (astral). Similarly when we talk about brahma

granthi, rudra granthi, vishnu granthi we are not talking about

literal physcial granthis (knots). These are psychological knots. It

is maatru (kundalini) shakti that operates on these knots and takes

you to higher levels of spiritual consciousness. More Later.

Best Wishes.

good ..thank you for the explanation . But I was asking about the meaning of Naadi in the context of Naadi Astrology . I am aware of the meaning of word Nadi as "nervous system related " but I really dont think it is the same here ....In this form of astrology it means "To Seek " or that what I read about it .svc_astro <svc_astro wrote: Namaste. Dear Aries -

Namaste. What is Jyotisha? Do you think Jyotisha is some external

science? Jyotisha is Jyoti + Isha. Jyoti means to throw light on the

inner cobwebs which we call as karma. Light (knowledge) dispels

darkness (ignorance). Isha is from ishana viz. Siva (God). Siva is

the state of sthirtaa (stillness). Shakti that emanates from Siva

does all the play. Jyotisha means to remove the inner cobwebs so that

the static state of sthirtaa or siva is revealed. Let us take up

Nadi. What is Nadi? Nadi literally means 'nerves'. Meaning is implied

and needs contemplation. Below the nabhi (navel) is kanda. It is the

shape of a birds egg. It is from here that 72000 nadis arise. Out of

these 72000, 72 are generally known. The entire dynamic of nadi

jyotisha springs from this kanda. There are various kandas in

ramayana too. There is a lot to it. Please do not discount deep

implied meanings of words spoken by Maharishis which were heard

(shruti) by them in higher levels of ecstasy. Want to write more but

am short of time. More later.

Best Wishes.

meaning of Naadi in the context of Naadi Astrology . I am aware of

the meaning of word Nadi as " nervous system related " but I really

dont think it is the same here ....In this form of astrology it

means " To Seek " or that what I read about it .
