At least 20 people have been killed and 25 injured in an explosion at a

market in southern Baghdad, Iraqi police say.

The explosion was apparently a car bomb that was aimed at a

police patrol in the al-Doura area but which missed its target, the police

said.

Hospital sources said the number of casualties could be higher.

The explosion comes a day after a suicide bombing on a bus in Baghdad killed at

least 12 Iraqis and injured another eight.
