Guest guest
Death toll rises in building collapse Rescuers pull bodies, not survivors now Wednesday, January 25, 2006; Posted: 12:01 p.m. EST (17:01 GMT) NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) -- An Israeli rescue team pulled three more bodies from a collapsed building in Kenya's capital early Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 17. Hopes faded of finding any more survivors trapped for a third day beneath the rubble. Radar and acoustic tests indicated there was no sound or movement coming from the rubble, and specially trained dogs could not find any more living people, Israeli Maj. Avi Berman told The Associated Press at the site. " If there is anyone in the rubble, they are either unconscious or dead. It has always been a race against time, but now the chances of finding someone alive are extremely slim, " he said. http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/africa/01/25/building.collapse.ap/index.html Ronald Ngala Street on the edge of Nairobi's business district is packed - even more so during the lunch break, so it was the equivalent of the " rush hour " when a five-storey building, still under construction collapsed. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/4643216.stm Dasha: Sa/Ma/Ra/Mo/Su satva Jorge Angelino Rua da Sociedade Filarmónica Perpétua Azeitonense, 29 2925-598 Azeitão Portugal jorge.angelino tel: mobile: 210813674 963916784 Add me to your address book...
