Guest guest
Last Update: Tuesday, January 10, 2006. 1:18pm (AEDT) A deserted road after the cyclone hit the WA coast. (ABC TV) Cyclone Clare moves inland Western Australia's critical north-west resources region appears to have escaped major damage from the passage of Tropical Cyclone Clare. The key industrial centres of Karratha and Dampier were hit by winds up to 195 kilometres per hour overnight as the category 3 cyclone struck the coast. Clare has been downgraded to a category 2 and is moving inland toward the town of Pannawonica. Neil Bennett from the Bureau of Meteorology says it is starting to ease. " [There are] still some strong winds in association with that and also a lot of precipitation as well, so flooding is going to be a major issue I think for the next two or three days, " he said. Several roads have already been blocked by floodwaters, but emergency crews have reported only minor structural damage to buildings in Karratha and Dampier. Power remains out in some areas and phone services are still being reconnected. http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/200601/s1544781.htm Dasha: Ke/Mo/Mo/Sa/Ra satva Jorge Angelino Rua da Sociedade Filarmónica Perpétua Azeitonense, 29 2925-598 Azeitão Portugal jorge.angelino tel: mobile: 210813674 963916784 Add me to your address book...
