Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has been rushed to hospital after

feeling unwell, his office has said.

Mr Sharon, 77, had been due to go into hospital on Thursday for

an operation to plug a hole in his heart.

The Israeli leader suffered a minor stroke last month which

doctors said could have been the result of a blood clot caused by the hole in

the heart.

Mr Sharon's health looks likely

to be a major issue in parliamentary elections due to take place in March.
