Guest guest
Athens explosion shakes ministry From CNN's Anthee Carassava Thursday, December 22, 2005; Posted: 6:06 p.m. EST (23:06 GMT) CNN) -- A small bomb exploded Thursday night in the center of Athens, Greece, near the Ministry of Development, slightly damaging nearby shops but causing no known casualties, police said. An anonymous caller contacted the newspaper Eleftherotypia a half hour before the blast went off about 10:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. ET) and warned of a bomb at the ministry, police said. It was not known how the bomb was detonated. There was no claim of responsibility for the incident, but police said it did not appear to be the work of the Revolutionary Struggle, believed to be a spin-off of the November 17 militant group that is considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. It was the third bombing at a government building in Athens since June, when there was one at the Labor Ministry. The Revolutionary Struggle claimed responsibility for a Dec. 12 blast at the National Economy Ministry that injured three people. Fifteen members of November 17 are appealing life sentences for their roles in a 27-year string of killings of public and business officials. Members of the group warned before their hearings began Dec. 2 that there would be attacks and reprisals. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/12/22/greece.explosion/index.html Dear List Members, Dasha: Ra/Sa/Ju/Ke/Sa.
