Two police officers and a suspected suicide bomber died in an explosion near a police checkpoint in the port city of Chittagong, police said. Another three people died when a bomb was thrown inside a court library in Gazipur, north of the capital Dhaka. Bangladesh has been hit by a wave of recent bombings that have targeted judges, journalists and politicians. The latest blasts follow the killing of two judges in southern Bangladesh earlier this month. A police official said two people walked up near the main court in Chittagong and one of them blew himself up at around 0900 (0300 GMT). " A man came to the police stand at the court. When he saw he was going to be searched he threw one bomb and detonated another, killing himself and a police officer, " police official Rahul Amin told AFP news agency. " A second man was injured after detonating a bomb strapped to his body. " As well as the three people killed, at least 16 others, including 13 policemen, were wounded, the official said. Threatening letters In a separate attack, which came almost simultaneously, a bomb was lobbed inside the library of the court in Gazipur, 32km (20 miles) north of Dhaka.
