Aspects of Rahu and Ketu to the planets in 2006

A PowerPoint file containing graphs of the aspects of Rahu and Ketu to the planets (excluding the fast moving Moon) in 2006 is attached and is also available for viewing in Files on SAMVA web page. A similar file for the year 2005 has earlier been uploaded on SAMVA.

These graphs are helpful to get an understanding of how frequently these contacts occur and the impact likely to be felt during the affliction of the slower moving Jupiter and Saturn. Also of interest is the fact that Mercury, which often goes retrograde during such a contact, also then suffers a long period of affliction. The key to understanding the impact resides in also knowing the SA rules pertaining to the strength of a planet in transit and its vulnerability to such afflictions. These are mentioned below for convenience of the list members.

- The time of an aspect falling within 5 degrees is shown. The 5 degree orb applies to weak planets.

- An aspect by the nodes is not strongly felt if the afflicted planet is strong and the aspect is outside a 1 degree orb

- A 2 degree orb applies when both Rahu and Ketu aspect the planet – which happens when the planet is conjunct either node (on the nodal axis).

- The intensity of affliction is not shown, however, it is normally at peak during the middle of the aspects shown.

- Of note: i) A weak Jupiter in Libra is severly afflicted by Rahu from 10 October to 9 November 2006, iii) a strong Saturn in Cancer is under close aspect of Rahu in Pisces in early 2006.

- The intensity of Rahu´s aspects to Jupiter and Saturn, along with their strength in transit, with period of tension highlighted, is shown.

In the graphs it is not possible to easily include also the placement of the planets, by sign and degree. However, as the times are shown the interested astrologer can study the charts for those times more closely with respect to impact in specific charts.
