Some of the events/facts used in the rectification:

National Day, commemorating the unification of the

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman

al-Faysal al-Sa‘ud on 22 September 1932, is annually observed on the day

when the Sun enters the sign of Libra, which now corresponds with either 22 or

23 September.

http://www.phys.uu.nl/~vgent/islam/mecca/ummalqura.htm

On the 17th of Jumada Alula, 1351.H -19th of

September, 1932.AD, a royal decree was issued to declare the unification of the

country officially named ( Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) as of Thursday, 21st of

Jumada Alula of the same year (1st of Mizan). This declaration was the

culmination of King AbdulAziz's efforts of bringing together this country

and securing a state relying on the application of the Quran and Prophetic Sunnah.

Since then, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has played a vital

role in delivering the message of Islam and has both regional and international

significance.

Later on, the 1st of Mizan corresponding to the 23rd

of September was appointed as the Kingdom's National Day.

The day begins and ends at sunset, at the instant at

which a white thread can no longer be distinguished from a black one. The week

has 7 days and begins at sunset on Saturday (Gregorian calendar). The names of

the days of the week are numbers. The fifth day, which begins at sunset on

Thursday, is the day for congregational prayer, but is not considered a day of

rest.

http://www.sizes.com/time/cal_islam.htm#Convert

PRAYERS: The five prayers (fajr, zuhur, asar, maghrib, isha)

are based on astronomical position of the sun.

MAGHRIB - begins just after sunset and extends to a

period of an hour and a half before Isha (used to be the start of the next day)

starts.

ISHA - Starts at dusk when evening twilight

disappears.

FAJR and ISHA times are usually calculated using

fixed twilight angles as discussed above but some countries also use a method

involving adding/subtracting a fixed interval of time to sunset/sunrise respectively.

ISHA-Twilight angle (Arabian Peninsula) 90 min. after

MAGRIB, 120 min. during RAMADAN

1932 22 September: Name of the country is changed to

Saudi

Arabia

and

‘Abd al-‘Aziz adopts title of King of

Saudi Arabia

http://www.jepeterson.net/Publications/SADCHRON.pdf

Since September 22, 1932, when the Kingdom of the Hijaz

and Najd and its

dependencies - unified under King 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Sa'ud - was renamed the

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the country has

been transformed.

http://www.saudiaramcoworld.com/issue/198206/foundations-a.decade.of.development.htm

The conquest of Riyadh occurred on the 15th of January, 1902 (5th of Shawal,

1319 H). Yet this was only the beginning of the " Jihad " campaign of

King Abdul Aziz. Saddened by disintegration and the state of anarchy,

ignorance, poverty and disease in the Arabian peninsula, he resolved to

unify the ranks of his nation under the banner " There is no god but Allah

and Mohammed is the Messenger of Allah. "

King Abdul Aziz Al Saud went on to unify the

scattered parts and splintered tribes of the Arabian peninsula. He annexed Al Qasseem

in 1904 (1322 H), Al Ahsa in 1913 (1331 H), Asir in 1916 (1334 H) and Hayel in

1921 (1340 H). He conquered Taif, and entered Makkah in 1924 (1343 H). When

Jeddah was taken in 1925 (1344 H), the entire Hijaz Region submitted to his

rule. Continuing his Jihad for 31 years, Abdul Aziz was gradually able to

establish the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, declaring its founding on the 22nd of

September 1932 (21st of Jumad Al Awal 1351 H).
