It lasted till 1953. 1950 Jul 26-29, US troops killed up to 300 South Korean refugees trapped under a bridge at No Gun Ri. The villagers had gathered there to avoid strafing from US planes which killed some 100. US troops feared the refugees included infiltrators from North Korea. The killings were not made public until 1999. On Jan 11, 2001 the US Army admitted that civilians were massacred and Pres. Clinton offered his regrets. 1978 Apr 20, A Korean Air Lines Boeing 707 crash-landed in northwestern Russia. Flight 007 was fired on by a Soviet interceptor after entering Soviet airspace. Two passengers were killed. 1989 Jul 27, Eighty people were killed when a Korean Air DC-10 crashed in Libya. 1993 Jul 26, A Boeing 737-500 crashed in South Korea and 66 were killed. 1994 Oct 21, Thirty-two people were killed when a section of bridge collapsed in Seoul, South Korea. 1995 Jun 29, A department store in Seoul, South Korea, collapsed, killing 501 people and injuring more than 900. 1997 Aug 5, Korean Air flight 801 crashed in Guam. There were 29 survivors and 254 people killed. 1999 Apr 15, A Korean Air cargo MD-11 crashed after takeoff from Shanghai and at least 5 people were killed. 1999 Jun 30, In South Korea a fire swept through the summer camp dormitory of the Sealand Youth Training Center in Hwasung and 23 young children were killed. 1999 Oct 30, In Inchon, South Korea, a fire killed 54 young people, mostly teenagers, at a karaoke bar.
