With hundreds of residents watching in silent prayer, rescue teams squeezed into flattened carriages in a last effort to find survivors. Cranes removed train debris wrapped around an apartment building. " I thought Japanese trains were safe. Now I have to think again, " said Junko Iwabe, a 35-year-old housewife in this western industrial town, as she bowed in respect before the site of Japan's worst train accident in 42 years. Just one day after the tragedy, a carriage of another passenger train derailed in Ibaraki prefecture northeast of Tokyo, reinforcing fears although there were no injuries. http://story.news./news?tmpl=story & cid=1512 & ncid=731 & e=4 & u=/afp/20050426/wl_afp/japantrainaccident Express train derails after colliding with truck in Ibaraki Tuesday, April 26, 2005 at 15:02 JST MITO — The first car of an 11-car express train derailed Tuesday after hitting a trailer unit at a crossing near Hatori Station on the Joban Line in Ibaraki Prefecture, East Japan Railway Co said.
