TOKYO (AFP) - An earthquake measuring

5.7 on the Richter scale jolted Japan's southern Kyushu island, the Japan

Meteorological Agency said.

Police said there were

no immediate reports of injury or damage while the meteorological agency said

no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake, which took

place at 6:11 am (2111 GMT Tuesday), occurred off the coast of Fukuoka, 850

kilometers (527 miles) southwest of Tokyo, with its focus 10 kilometers (six

miles) below sea level, the agency said.
