Guest guest
PARIS - People screamed to be rescued from flames — some even jumped from windows — as a fire roared through a Paris hotel early Friday used by City Hall to house needy African families. At least 17 people were killed, including seven children, officials said. At least 55 people were injured, 13 seriously. The fire was thought to have started in a first-floor breakfast room of the one-star Paris Opera hotel in the capital's 9th district, a popular tourist area, fire officials said. Many guests were African. Paris City Hall had rented 26 of the six-story hotel's rooms to temporarily house families from Africa, fire services spokesman Laurent Vibert said on Europe-1 radio. The fire broke out after 2 a.m., when guests would have been sleeping. It spread quickly and caused panic, he said. http://news./news?tmpl=story & e=1 & u=/ap/20050415/ap_on_re_eu/france_hotel_fire & sid=84439559 Dear List Members, Dasha is Sa/Mo/Sa/Su/Sa.
