Guest guest
Dear John: MahaShivaRatri is a special night, once a year, when Lord Shiva is honored from sunset to sunrise. There are a number of stories associated with this, and these can be found on many websites through a Google search of MahaShivaRatri. I assume that as practicing Vedic astrologers, it is good to have some awareness about the various and most significant dieties and special occassions in the Hindu tradition. In this way, we can honor and participate in whatever manner is most comfortable for us and our personal lives and beliefs. For example, Shiva chants may help to reduce the impact of Rahu and Ketu, while Vishnu and Ganesh can also have value. I am sure Durga, Lakshmi, and Saraswati are also important aspects of this knowledge. On a personal note, I listen to Vedic chants on a regular basis, and whenever a traveling pandit blesses our town with a visit, I participate in the local pujas. I am sure the Vedic chants and traditions are remedial in scope and worthwhile. Perhaps will guide us with some recommendations he has in this regard.
