please help me in understanding the described mahadasha in JC hora software

Dear Sir,

I am confused to understand the mahadasha part of based on nakshtra.

It shows previous years of planet . for example - my birth detail is

23-11-1972 , 10.15am , new delhi and if i look for mahadasha that

gives Rahu Mahadahsa starts from 20-07-1969 while i was born in 1972.

Please explain what is this ?
