Please see is this the Shami tree?

 

 

Common Name:

 

English - Pipal

Hindi - Pippal

Malayalam - Araial

Sanskrit - Asvatha

Tamil - Arasamaram

Botanical Name - Ficus religiosa L.

Family - Moraceae

Origin - Indigenous

Tree Size - Large

Height at Maturity - 40-50 ft.

Other Details - Leaves are characteristically heart shaped with long finger

like tip

Uses - Medicinal, socio-religious importance, bark provides short

fibres used for cordage

No...what you have written is " Arasa maram " ....it is not sami tree.

Sami tree is called " vanni maram " in Tamil. Search for that. I have

already written about this in the posts related to Aswatta

pradakshinam.
