Guest guest
Dear Shri. Akash: Generally, you can gift the grain ruled by the planet occupying the 12th house to minimize losses pertaining to that planet. You can do that in a temple or for a charitable institution. Generally, performing " annadhaanam " strengthens the effects of Moon, and gifting to Government Relief Funds or for disaster managements will strengthen the effects of Sun. Gifting a small portion of land for installation of Snake Deity shrines can remove the ill-effects of Rahu(Kaavus in kerala were mainly created for this purpose). Donating to " samaraadhana " of saints or for Pournami/ Amavasya samaradhanas in any vedic paatasalaa near your place, or giving " Bikshaavandanam " to yathis (ascetics who Head Mutts of various denominations) will cover for the effects of Ketu in the 12th. While performing all these, the main attitude should be that of a passive and unconditional reverence, i.e. though we are performing the charity as indicated by the horoscope and to minimize our losses that might accrue due to those planets, the attitude while performing that act of charity should be one of pure Devotion without any expectation. It is an unwritten rule in occult " The less you desire the more you deserve and get! " It may seem illogical - but this is the truth! Try this out yourselves. I have personally experienced this in my life - when I donate a large chunk of my earning to charitable institutions or for vaidik purposes to support yagnas that are becoming a rarity, I have always found that the money reverts back so fast in the form of people remitting money to me sometimes even just as a gift for earlier predictions that were realized completely- though that was not my intention while giving the charity. Any person who allots at least 3 percent of his/ her earnings (astrologers, spiritual trainers/ those who give discourses, etc. should allot a higher percentage; while earning, you should keep up your professional standard high; but what you earn you should spend happily for worthy causes) will definitely neutralize a large chunk of karma. Another important ethic in this charitable spendings - some people say that they donate a portion of the amount that they happen to receive as bribes or some gifts that are nearly bribes to charitable institutions. Though this Robinhood technique looks impressive, actually it can have severe karmic backlashes. What I am about to write is a free form of thought, and may not seem relevant to everyone....Those who are still interested may read on.....but the astrological and main dharmic angle is over with the previous paragraph....what I am going to write from now on to the end of this post is more from a practical ethics point of view...... I will explain this with the discourse that Lord Krishna gave to the Pandava brothers when they were in the forest. Immediately after the Raajasooya Yagna, the Paandavaas had suffered a negative turn of luck and they were wondering as to why such a Fate overtook them. Was not such a glorious Yagna meant to protect their interests? Lord Krishna explained that as the Yagna was conducted with the money got by extortion, the yagna's fruits had given both positive and negative karmic influences. They were experiencing the negative now, and after the exhaustion of this karma, they will enjoy their kingdom unopposed in any way whatsoever. The background for Lord Krishna's uttering is this.....Arjuna had made a visit to various kingdoms and those kings had parted with the money only out of fear upon the Great Pandava Warrior and without any intention to give it for charity; again there were kings who had been defeated and whose property had been appropriated by force. In a way, that was kshatriya Dharma and Pandavas will enjoy the protection enjoined by that dharma; but still the money got by such forceful means being used for charity had taken away the goodluck of the Pandavas! That is why Dharma shastra is " sookshma " and has to be understood in its subtlety. Sometimes spiritual persons who first begin a sadhana start experiencing very terrible happenings in their lives; that is because the latent negative karmas are being burnt up speedily in bulk and the side-effects are felt terribly in life. Once this is over, things will change for the better; unfortunately most inexperienced persons get demoralized by the initial reactions. The life of a Dharmic person starts with challenges and ends with stability and contentment. The life of a person who goes against Dharma starts with flourish and ends in infamy and simmering discontent to the soul towards the end of life. So, we should all donate to some charity within our capacity whole- heartedly and FROM OUR HARD EARNED MONEY - with happiness that God has given us the opportunity to put our hard-earned resources to good use, and this is verily a yagna in Divine Honour (Itham na mama - This is not mine; This was given by the God and is being returned according to Divine Providence). A scholar living in poverty is a shame on his knowledge. Money should be earned with diligence and with honesty. Earn money with dignity - but do not mix business with charity; spend the money thus earned happily for good purposes and a portion of that to charity. This is a Dharmic way of life. Unsolicited alms and undeserving concessions will lower the dignity of whatever field you are in, and that is not dharma. Blessed be.
