Guest guest
Charts, Dasas & Transits…. Dear Friends: At a time when the Transits are about to “heat up” again I thought it might be good to reflect on the relationship between the so-called Transits of the stars and planets and are charts. Charts, Dasas & Transits In Astrology there are three main aspects that are always going on in life. From the outside the Stars, our Sun, Moon and planets are literally creating our world each day. These astronomical forces are as if raining down upon us each moment. How we each are affected by these influences depends upon us, our charts, personalities and dispositions. If you’ve never watched how you feel in comparison with the transits watch how you feel for 2 or 3 months. In a very short amount of time you’ll discover a lot about yourself. Take for example the Moon right now. The Moon has just moved into Gemini in the last 6 hours. The Sun, on the other hand is still in Virgo right now. That means that the Moon is about ½ full and getting smaller. This means we’re in the Waning Moon cycle of the Moon. Over the next week the Moon will be finishing it’s final or Last quarter and experience the New Moon on approximately October 10th. Because the Moon is supposed to be related to our emotions or feeling natures many people feel a quality of growing emptiness as the Moon becomes nil. Over this next week watch how you “feel” as the Moon is emptying out! Practical experience, however, shows that there is a wide range of different responses of the Moon and Transits in people. In my own experience I’ve tended to find that those who seem the most influenced by the stars tend to have slightly more delicate or smallish Moons in their birth charts. Quite often too those who are more “affected” by the stars also tend to be those who get out of balance or stressed out. It’s almost as if the stars are there to remind us sometimes how we’re doing in life. Charts & Dasas In addition to the Transits we’re all also experiencing our charts and dasas. Our charts represent our minds, individualities, personalities and emotional and physical nature’s. There is an old expression in the bible: “…your Father which is in heaven: …maketh His sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust” alike I love this quote because it describes very beautifully the nature of the Stars and planets “transits” shining equally on all of us in relationship to our individual charts and human natures. Finally, each one of us also experiencing what Jyotish calls the Dasas which roughly means “time periods”. In other words the karmas or flavors of our charts, the good and the bad are going to come back to us in the exact timing of our chart’s dasa periods. So, Transits, Dasas and Charts. These are the three main aspects of our life experience that we’re all experiencing each moment. The inherent purpose then of astrology is to help us know how we’re doing, how in-tune we are with all the Stars, planets or life. The good and the bad in our lives is then described as being an innocent reflection of the so-called Benefices and Malefics in our charts. So if one of our planets is described as ‘Malefic’ there’s a strong possibility that during the dasa or Transit periods of that planet that we’re likely to experience uncomfortable or negative consequences or events. The purpose of this language and understanding from Astrology is so we learn what our positive and negative aspects are. This way we can take better advantage of our Benefic strengths and begin to transform and change our Malefics also, into strengths. The Dasas and Transits of especially malefic planets, (in our charts), are there to reflect back to us the innocent consequence of our actions, (karma) and therefore see move vividly the real result of our previous actions. This is how nature teaches us about the good and the bad, the right and the wrong. As we see or experience in our own lives the results of our choices and actions we can then decide to change and grow in certain ways that we didn’t understand previously. This is the more expansive philosophy of the Transits and Dasas. So, as we reflect on any up-coming negative or difficult Transits let’s remember that especially uncomfortable malefic times contain important lessons and wisdom for us. Sincerely, Mark Kincaid Transits October 10th – 16th 22nd… Moon’s Final Quarter Waning Now till New Moon on October 22nd Right now the Moon’s just now entering the last stage or quarter of its Waning Moon cycle. This represents the major rest and rejuvenation period of the Moon each month. If you find yourself feeling tired, listless with little or no energy then allow yourself to rest during this time. At least pay attention to how you and those around you “feel” during this most delicate period of the Moon. See, if you can see the relationship between the Moon and the fine feeling level within. Sun moves from Virgo to Libra Over the next 7 days the Sun will be finishing with it’s yearly transit through Virgo. Then the Sun will plunge into Libra which it does each year for the next month. The Sun is supposed to be “debilitated” or weakest in Libra so the prediction is our Self-confidence and self-worth, etc. will be the weakest during these times. Pay special attention to the House that has your Libra in it for a more personal idea where the Sun’s debilitated influence will be most prevalent. Like all other malefic moments and experiences this too has a special relevance for everyone. If the Sun was weak or “undeveloped” in one’s birth chart this period may be a challenging one. For most people this is a good month to work on one’s self-development and self-improvement. This is not often a very good month to start new projects, enterprises or trips. Check of course your individual chart to verify how negative the Sun’s transit may be for you. Ketu & Saturn Planetary War Finally, there is one more important transit presently going on. Every 10-12 years Ketu and Saturn are found in the same sign. In February of 1985 Ketu and Saturn were both in Scorpio and again in January of 1997 they were found together in Pisces. Now, they’re both in the sign of Leo. Right now Saturn’s at the 9th degree while Ketu’s at the 12th degree in Leo. They say Ketu acts like Mars so this transit is a lot like Mars & Saturn colliding together. The particular “confusion” right now is that the Ketu or doing aspect of life is getting too close to the Saturn silent or resting aspect. This means for many people that they’re not going to be getting enough Saturn rest or rejuvenation and as a result any number of uncomfortable or classic Ketu experiences may arise. Acting like Mars Ketu’s transits can include Marish behavior, rashes or skin eruptions to name just a few. One of my students having Leo in his first house has been experiencing a very bad pitta or Mars rash on his face, lips and mouth. So treat this transit like the Mars-Saturn planetary war and take the time to get plenty of rest and not be too rash or heated. Ayurveda has many wonderful pitta pacifying remedies which are great for Mars ailments. For any questions about your particular charts, please email your date of birth information to me through this group. Be sure to include your Jyotish rising sign if you know it.
