Guest guest
Dear Merlin & Friends: I loved your recent email about John Haglein and the " Masters of Manifestation " . It reminded me about an article I've been writing regarding Jyotish, or Eastern Astrology and the process of Manifestation. Quite often Maharishi talks about the importance of enlivening Consciousness as the basis of improving all aspects of life. In other words one first attends to the ‘sap’ and the whole tree gets nourished. This ‘holistic’ approach to life has been sorely lacking in the World for a very long time. There is however, a secondary approach to life, success and learning how to “Manifest” one’s desires fulfilled. And this is to attend to the level of the problem at the same time as the sap. In Ayurveda, people trained by Maharishi know how to address unique and specific situations of Vata, Pitta and Kapha ailments and imbalances and have learned to add the remedy of Meditation as a great complement to the Ayurvedic remedies. In Jyotish there is this same possibility. Instead of feeling someone’s pulse, Jyotish teaches that Dharma is the key to life. In everyone’s Astrological chart, there is contained such a precise and personal description of what one’s best career, Dharma or life purpose is. Maharishi, himself, says the key to life is living one’s own Dharma. “Better to die within one’s own Dharma then live the Dharma of another.” I think of that in terms of Jyotish. See, there is the possibility that we can be born to live a certain Dharma and due to certain life forces, get deflected away from the ideal life we were born to live. Contained within our Astrological charts is not only a depiction of our true Dharma but also the Positive and Negative forces that we’ve come to live with and better understand. The ideal way to be a success in life is to get plugged in with that which is our greatest good. Every person who discovers ‘that’ which makes them the most happy, ends up living a lot more successful life. The #1 ingredient to live a successful life is to live ‘that’ Dharma. Each person has a unique one so Jyotish is highly recommended to help us learn what that ‘life’ is. Secondarily, the next ingredient to living a wholly satisfying and successful life is to understand the Positive and Negative forces in one’s chart and life. Jyotish calls these Positive forces “Benefices” and the Negative ones, “Malefics”. Benefices represent those parts of us which are our best talents, qualities, and developed human characteristics. Most people are born with 2 or 3 natural talents which are their best attributes. When we flow within these natural ‘benefices’ which we’re born with, then life is good, successful and progressive. However, if we’re ever found flowing through one of our Malefic patterns then we’ll immediate find ourselves in problems, challenges, grief and suffering. For example, let’s say that Mars is one of our Benefices and Mercury one of our Malefics. This means that our Mars sense, fiery and dynamic part of us is well developed. Therefore it’s not surprising in everything to do with raw physical and mental energy or activities we excel. Even athletic abilities are ruled by Mars. However, if that same person also has a challenged, undeveloped or weakfish Mercury then quite spontaneously they’re decision makings and intellectual abilities will create mistakes. Even Modern Psychology today, understands this quality of ‘Sabotaging’. It’s written about that most problems in life stem from an unconscious, unseen part of us where we end up literally undermining or sabotaging our lives. For example, someone who hears bad advice when they’re growing up tends to take that into our adulthood. Let’s say someone is repeatedly told that they’re no good or worthless growing up. That idea and memory gets planted and for much of one’s life, finds its way into all our later thoughts and actions as a big mistake of intellect. Individuals with such ‘twisted’ mental ideas find themselves being greatly affected by such negatives experiences in life. Like that, we all are born with certain attributes which as it turns out are in-tune with life. These ‘good’ habits and inclinations are responsible for the best aspects of ourselves and when we flow in these ‘benefic’ ways we encounter ease, naturalness and success. However, in the areas of our poor habits, qualities and characteristics we have other aspects to ourselves which represent areas which are undeveloped, wrongly construed and literally creating mistakes, failures and unhappiness. The ‘key’ to life then, depends upon learning how to flow more with one’s Benefices and to neutralize or transform one’s Malefic forces also into positive ones. This can happen spontaneously even without training. The World, today, is full of rags to riches stories of a few special individuals who’ve been able to find their way and be a success, regardless of their positives and negatives. However, for the vast majority life is spent steeped in problems, challenges, mistakes, failures, set-backs and unhappiness. In the for example, we have one of the highest standards of living in the entire World. However, the present quality of Health in the is one of the poorest in the developed countries. This is one of many specific human problems that really stems from the mistaken notions, mental and emotional habits and inclinations that are rooted in these so-called Malefic Astrological components or forces. Jyotish, then, has a deep insight into the process of Manifestation and success because it knows how to see both ones Benefic strengths and Malefic weaknesses. Life, from ‘good’ Jyotish entails the ability to #1 Understand one’s Benefic strengths better, and #2 To literally, neutralize and then, transform one’s Malefic weaknesses; also into strengths. When one understands one’s Benefices better, immediately one begins to flow in more goodness and ‘right’ action. Immediately one encounters frictionless flow and the ease and naturalness of life contributes to success and happiness. Then, if one can pierce into the nature of one’s Malefics and learn to ‘stop’ flowing through these bad habits, or mistaken notions and inclinations then one can learn how to spontaneously ‘stop’ Sabotaging ones life. The key to life is so personal and unique for each one of us. Yes, each person can learn to meditate and grow within their unused, latent human potential which is so vital for success and happiness in life. But, even 5,10,15 or 20 year ‘meditators’ are found in experiences of problems, dissatisfaction and unhappiness. And, this is due to some Malefics still operating in their life and causing us our problems. When someone who is meditating can add this unique perspective of good Jyotish to their life, then there is the greatest chance to live a life of all positive flow and least amount of debilitating and unsatisfying negative or malefic experiences. For example, I’ve told many a meditator more about what ‘their’ malefics were doing to them. For some, even though they’re meditating, they may be staying up too late, or eating too close to bed, or being too Marish at work, etc. In each person’s case, one has to look at the Astrological chart to see if any of their birth Malefics are still operating. Many a meditator too, has grown out of some of the malefic ness of their early life. But, if there are any problems still remaining, this profound Vedic Psychological influence or Jyotish can help immensely. In conclusion let me say the #1 ingredient for success in life is Learning and living ones own, personal and unique Dharma. For each person there is a specific unique life that we’re all meant to live. It’s there, within our charts, begging for us to know and to flow through. #2 even for those who know their true life purpose, or Dharma; if they haven’t learned how to ‘stop’ flowing through their Malefics then success will be fleeting and problems will still continue. The positive and negative forces in our Astrology represent the spontaneous habits, inclinations, mental and emotional human characteristics that are either flowing correctly or not. Meditation does dissolve the stresses and sets the mind and body to a more healthy and balanced state. However, consider adding the wonderful perspective and unique Advanced techniques of Jyotish to supplement the general Development of Consciousness that you’ve been enjoying so far. Right after Fred Gratzon - more about him later - to join as one of the speakers, I had a discussion with him about the assembly of speakers. We both agreed that there was already a formidable line-up there. I told him I was still looking for one or two more. What I was specifically looking for was someone to be the opening speaker. Now I think that an opening speaker, apart from having to be a very interesting speaker, has to be one who can lay a 'solid foundation' for the remainder of the seminar. When Fred suggested I would approach John to be a speaker - he didn't know I was looking for an opening speaker - I realized at once he was right. For the uniformed a seminar about 'creating your reality with your mind' can come across as a bit 'woo-woo'. What better way to show that kind of impression the door then to have a scientist of John's stature to be at the basis of such a life-changing event. I visited some of the websites featuring Dr. Hagelin and I was very much taken by his melodic, almost hypnotic way of speaking. In goofy moments - when no one was looking - I would recite a shopping list in John's tone of voice: " Grains, beans, vegetables and ½ a cup of unbounded awareness! " Just kidding, of course. Anyway you'll understand when you hear him speak! In his interview John discusses some of his background and the very interesting choice he had to make in regard to the topic of his studies. He wanted to major in both physics and religion, but was told he couldn't combine the two. John then goes on to point out the common ground between the two that has been uncovered in recent years. He also talks about the fact that we as humans can create. He explains the power of thoughts and when they are at their most powerful. One thing that I remember very well from his interview was the scientific way he explained that negative thoughts are not nearly as powerful as positive ones. Quite reassuring, isn't it? John also addresses the meditative state, which science has now proven to be a fourth major state of consciousness, different from waking, sleeping and dreaming. Another topic in this very interesting conversation was the state of people's awareness in today's society. Should this all seem very scientific and hard to understand, don't worry! John explains this all in terms we can all understand. What was really amazing to me, even though I had already heard more about it, were the amazing effects of 'group meditation' on society. John also told us about the global initiatives concerning this technique and it looks like exciting things could be happening sooner than you might think! He also shares what you as an individual can do to become a part of the global peace process. WOW! What an amazing interview! © 2006 - Get Lucky / M.C. I heard of Fred's book 'The Lazy Way to Success' through Rebecca Fine. There is such brilliance in his concepts of productive laziness, effective leadership, subtle solutions and finding your passion that I was hooked from the get-go. Then, after attending a teleseminar he did, I knew I wanted him to appear at the 2007 THINK! Seminar as well. When we started the interview Fred asked somewhat anxiously if this was going to be just a transcript or an audio product as well. When we told him it would be both, he told us something like, " I better not mess it up then . " And immediately his sense of humor took over and we had a good laugh about it. Still, he wanted to know if we could edit it out if he said something stupid. I said we could, knowing full well that Fred is far too brilliant to really mess up. He insists that he isn't very smart, but you be the judge of that. I say he's wrong! Better yet, I say he's modest. Anyway, we started the interview and Andrew did the introduction, telling the story how Fred is supposed to be one out of only five people to be fired from a USA civil service job. Fred immediately interrupts. " If you're going to say that, you have to say it more tongue-in-cheek! It's only half-serious. I don't know how many people exactly got fired. It could be less! " So funny. Andrew was totally flabbergasted and we decided to start over. Thanks, Fred! Near the end of the interview Fred walks away from the phone because . the washer repair guy had arrived! Well, we could do nothing but wait until he came back! To his credit, he had announced at the start of the interview that he was expecting the repair man. Anyway, we cut out that minute of silence, because we didn't think you would enjoy that very much and that is the only thing we edited in the entire interview series. In the interview Fred shares some of his background and his lazy disposition, and he tells us how he became a success in the ice cream industry and how he made a fortune in telecom. Then he discusses how he got his inspiration for finding subtle solutions. What was also really interesting was what he said about finding your passion and committing to your dream. What I remember most of this interview is not as much one single thing, because there were so many highlights, but more the general ambiance of the interview. It was hilariously funny at times and deeply profound at other moments. Fred would shout things out in almost a cartoon-like way at one moment and whisper poetically the next. © 2006 - Get Lucky / M.C. Luyk .
