DiscussionDear All:In a

time when so many peope are wondering about Gurus and their purity and

theirintense affects upon us I thought I'd write in and give you

all, my 2/cents.I've especially been studying Jyotish for many

years now, and what Astrology has to sayabout Guru-Jupiter is I

think very relevant. For me, Maharishi too had the greatest

spiritual and mentor affect upon me. Ever sinceI first saw

video tapes of him in the early 1970's I was hooked. Then,

finally when I met him on my teacher training in Spain in 1972 & 73, I

got a chancefor my first encounter.I had this one

experience when he made me an initiator when he was innocently chattingwith me about my family and schooling...Later I realized I had

been with a man who could do " no harm " .I felt so

strongly that this man could never hurt me.And I had been slightly

scared to be much in his physical presence cuz I'd heard storiesof

how he would get mad at some people. Now, I realize an

enlightened man is many things. The most important is he or she

isestablished in the ever, the same, constant pure consciousness. As to what their personality and role is in this life; only they

and God may know for sure.In Astrology the Guru represents the

Knowledge and Wisdom of Jupiter in life. Guru isthe teacher,

Jupiter is love of learning, knowledge and Wisdom of the Absolute. They say God was the first, original Guru, and from him he gave

out His/Her wisdom toall including the Guru's.I think

with the relationship of oneself and the Guru the primary characteristic

is supposedto be one of devotion. But, because the whole

relationship is for one's own enlightenment it's not a devotionrelationship that enslaves us but one that liberates. So, if

we're the kind of person that tends to be attached to anyone, lovers,

romantic, parents, even Guru's then we need to make sure we don't

get too overshadowed or identified withthat person, Guru.In Astrology the Guru has a particular role. The role is to guide,

teach and lead us toEnlightenment. While that is being

accomplished or afterwards one has to become more identified withone's own enlightenment rather then that bond that was our Guru-disciple

relationship. For some that is easy and for many that is

not.Hence, we see so many trials and confusions about

Guru's.If we instead emphasize more on our own enlightenment

then, the rest will take care of itself.I always

wondered why people spent so much time and energy wrapped up in

Maharishi, when he, himself, always made such a point of

de-emphasizing his personality, self, and such details. Now, I understand Guru is like a boat!It was designed to

help us get to the other shore!Once we get there, we may come

down to the shore, periodically and revere, and remeniseceregarding

" ahh, my dear boat that helped me soooo much! " .....But, eventually the fresh, ever more important relationship with God and

one's own DivineSelf has to take precendent! The journey

was for our enlightenment and not our relationship with Guru!Jai Guru Dev!Mark KincaidJai God!www..com

I love Maharishi. why?

Posted a few hours ago on FFL

Maharishi has been on mind recently. I have been thinking how much

I like him and what a pivotal role he played in my life. I last saw

him alone, probably in '74, on one of those European ATR courses. He

had been messing around with me, the then National Leader in South

Africa, as he was wont to do, giving contradictory messages and

making me feel unsettled as to my position and his confidence in me.

I raised this with him as he lay ready for sleep and said I was

unsure of his love. He replied " my love for you was

established when first we met " We me in 1962

(Hochgurgl). I had received word that my father was dying in South

Africa and I was uncertain about staying for the month. Henry Nyburg

organised for me to see him alone, right at the start of the course.

Maharishi took both my hands in a warm embrace and asked about my

father. It was a special moment for me and set the tone both for the

course, my first romance with the Absolute, and my subsequent

frequent interactions with Maharishi. My last direct contact,

en route as an immigrant to Canada, was from a phone booth on a

Swiss Autobahn as I was leaving Seelisburg, having been given the

run around by Neil Patterson for videos and a machine which never

came because I had a moustache! Maharishi laughed heartily about

this and said I could have gone to Canada as their national leader

rather than as a bearded philosopher. My response was that would

have put a few noses out of joint. By then I was well on my

way out from the organization having decided amongst other things

that if enlightenment meant anything it meant the ability to be

one's self as well as one's Self. So some 30 years later he

still comes to mind and I still feel such affection for him. He was

a wonderful person to know and greatly enriched my life. I do wonder how much of this comes from the Jungian projection one tends to make on such figures and the reluctance to give up seeing one's Soul in them. I read what people say of Muktananda.

I never met him but from what I read he was a first class rogue so I

have none of their projections which either leaves them permanently

in love or furious about being betrayed. So I am

uncertain of this continuing love for Maharishi, my wish that he

makes a happy `transition', and that warm happy feeling I get

when, as now, I think of him and feel so grateful he was a part of

life. Love, David

Geoff Gilpin intended to interview

me for his book but I `fell through cracks' as he put it. I was

interested to see what folks thought of it so got back on to FFL

searched and read a pile of posts that had nothing like a review. I

don't know whether a review was written and, if so, could someone

kindly direct me to the message no. Has anyone read Conny

Larson's auto biography? I have and found it moving. It details his

abuse by Satya Sai Baba and makes some allusions to MMY's behaviour.

He is writing an account of those at the moment. Love,

David

Mark,

Now that Jupiter is present in transit, we mustn't be serious about

Guru-disciple relationship. This for the real apsirant, knows that this

can be a trap for real spiritual growth. The Guru is within, this is

the I/thou and the other that make the triactic realtionship that is

the constant realty; Brahma.

Be the servant of the " I " relationship in the Universal and cosmic Guru

who is everywhere in all things and is hidden, but waiting to be

discovered within. This is the secret.

So, if you have a Guru, drop him or her as soon as you can. Look for the

Light within and be saved and have life ever after.

Oh well, never mind!
