Guest guest
Re: Saturn in Leo Hi Janna, Mark and all, As Mark has written, Saturn is not considered well placed in Leo. Leo is called the place of Saturn's detriment in Western astrology because Leo is opposite Saturn's sign of Aquarius. Hi Juliana:Nice to read your post here. However, in Vedic astrology, Saturn in Leo is said to gain some strength because it aspects its own sign of Aquarius. Nonetheless, in Vedic astrology, Saturn shares great enmity with the Sun, the lord of Leo, so Leo is not Saturn's best constellation to transit, generally speaking. One of the potential collective or individual problems of this transit could be widespread malaise and depression. Yes, I think you're correct, and though there will be some exceptions, especially of people who have so-called better Saturn's in their charts, this or any transit of Saturn does not have to be negative.Though because Saturn has a long way to go for most people, thesetwo transits of Sani through both the lunimaries, Sun and Moon's signs, tends to be malefic in nature. This is why Saturn is called the great lesson giver. He returns our karmas of imbalance to us, and especially during thoseSaturm moments which can include.1) Monthly Saturn times when the Moon or any planets are eitherin conjunction with Saturn or aspected by Sani.2) For example, this month and year, Saturn's in Cancer, and becauseof Jyotish's rule that Saturn influences 3 houses away, also simultaneouslyaspects Virgo. That's why I've wanted to discuss this important transits where the Sun,and so many other planets are going simultaneously through Virgo. This year, for 2 years now, Saturn's presence in Cancer, meant Virgo wouldbe one of those Saturn moments.3) Also, Sade Sat is one of those Saturn moments that's important to watch.Whenever, Saturn goes through the Sign where you Moon was at birth, or oneither side, then Saturn will be bringing back especially important Saturnexperiences.Let's not forget however, that Sani has the most blessed purpose in life..To teach us where we need more silence...When Saturn first crept into my 10th House of Cancer, slightly over 2 years ago, now, I experienced it like this big smouldering boulder, inching it's way across the mantle of my 10th house. My first reaction was: " Hehehee, look there, that's the Saturn boulder moving into my 10th house... " Later, when I realized this was a time for me to get more in-tune with more deep,Cosmic silence especially in my 10th House and my Moon/Cancer, mind...that same boulder began to become a literal, living, breathing 'Vorttex' into the absoluteof pure silence. Now, it's still there, having made it's inching movements ever so slowly across the bowof my 10th House, ship....But it's becuase a vessel of widening, deep, immortal silence and bliss...and has stopped being negative....Unless of course I forget 'him' and start to rush...but then he quickly reminds me...Now, he goes into Leo, where the same lesson is coming through the Home of the Sun,or Leo's...and in my rising sign my 11th house of gain.the lessons of patience, humility and deep surrencder are now beginning to manifestin my sphere of how I fulfill my desires (11th House), so I'm ready...I'm ready to let go...and let God organize....The heart (SUN-LEO) can feel constricted (SATURN) physically and spiritually, indicating a great opportunity to develop the heart chakra in this period. This transit can reflect the pitfalls of egoic drive and power, so the lessons it may bring revolve around the need for real humility and loving kindness.Beautiful, ....also Saturn in Leo because it represents the home of the Sun,...like Cancer was the home of the Moon-mind, now....represents the opportunity to grow in terms of Saturn stillness....in terms of our egos, and very Selves.....(Leo.....) Saturn transiting in Leo if strong and unafflicted can give easy gains because it is aspecting its own sign of Aquarius. Whether it will bring more loss or more gain depends in large part on what houses it is transiting and where the other planets are transiting at the same time However, it also represents how in-tune we are with Saturn, in general. If we're already in-tune, then Saturn's transits, just show us where to beand bring more silence...Saturn's path is thorugh silence....If we're found struggling, then this is Saturn saying.... slow down andrest....Generally, malefics like Saturn give their best results in the Upachaya houses from the Lagna or the Moon, houses 3, 6, 10 and 11. Malefics can cause the most problems, if strong and afflicted, in the angles of the chart.I don't like to use the word 'Malefic' to describe any planet really. We need to distinguish between a Planet's natural goodness and it'sfunctioning as a malefic influence.Even the so-called Benefic planets can be found acting negatively ormalefically.Parashara, the founder of Eastern Astrology or Jyotish says in hispremier book " Hora Astrology " " In the beginning Lord Vishnu entered into the Grahas, (Planets)to bestow upon his devotees the natural consequenes of their actions! " When I read this I realized none of the Planets are naturally negative, bador malefic. They're all the nature of God, delivering the natural consequences of our actions..to us. A very important point that we should always consider is that the natal predisposition of a planet must be throroughly analyzed before trying to understand its transits. If you have a good natal Saturn, meaning that it is a benefic for the chart and is unafflicted, then all of its transits will be easier to take than if it is an afflicted malefic for the chart.I totally agree with this! The other thing to understand about Saturn transits relates to Dasas. If one is running a Dasa of Saturn, then its transits will be more significant and intense.Yes, dasas too need to be looked at.In fact I always say: " Examine your 3 Pillars of Astrology, Transits,Dasas, and Chart itself. " Those that are in Saturn transits, dasasa and have Saturn issues have themost Saturn karma to deal with.However,.... surrender to Saturn...and any dreaded, difficult Saturn periodcan become the best!It happened to me, it can happen to anyone..One needs only to open one's heart and in humility...ask Saturn for hisWisdom...He will tell us! Guest guest
Thanks, Mark, for reminding us of the ultimate nondualism of our most Divine nature as it is reflected even through the highest vibrations of the graha. I agree that the term " malefic " planet is somewhat misleading and perhaps the actual meaning of the word from Parasara and other sages for so-called " malefic " planets was " papa, " , literally " what brings one down. " Though it is often translated as sin or evil, I think of papa planets as those that will cut the ego down to size. You said it so much more sweetly and elegantly, in reference to Sani, who brings us " lessons of patience, humility and deep surrencder...the natural consequences of our actions...[returning] our karmas of imbalance. " I wanted to share the following, which appears so much in alignment with the wisdom you are sharing with us here, Mark. This is a teaching from one of the teachers in my spiritual lineage, Sri Yukteswar of Giri, who was a great yogi and Jyotishi, whom Paramahansa Yogananda quoted in his _Autobiography of a Yogi_: " Astrology is the study of man's response to planetary stimuli. The stars have no conscious benevolence or animosity; they merely send forth positive and negative radiations. Of themselves, these do not help or harm humanity, but offer a lawful channel for the outward operation of cause-effect equilibriums which each man has set into motion in the past. A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and its probable future results. But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men of intuitive wisdom: these are few. The message boldly blazoned across the heavens at the moment of birth is not meant to emphasize fate-the result of past good and evil-but to arouse man's will to escape from his universal thralldom. What he has done, he can undo. None other than himself was the instigator of the causes of whatever effects are now prevalent in his life. He can overcome any limitation, because he created it by his own actions in the first place, and because he has spiritual resources which are not subject to planetary pressure. Superstitious awe of astrology makes one an automaton, slavishly dependent on mechanical guidance. The wise man defeats his planets- which is to say, his past-by transferring his allegiance from the creation to the Creator. The more he realizes his unity with Spirit, the less he can be dominated by matter. The soul is ever-free; it is deathless because birthless. It cannot be regimented by star. " Namaste all, Juliana
