Guest guest
Dear Friends: I've been a member on this group for awhile, http://health.ayurveda/ and today felt like sharing with you all the mental side of Vedic Knowledge including Yoga and Jyotish (Eastern Astrology). It's well known today that physical dis-ease or disease has a mental component to it. Modern doctors even admit that over 70% of all diseases are due to the build up of stress or complicated by stress. This means there's a mental side to physical health which is the mind. Much of our physical health or ill-health can therefore be traced to either a healthy or unhappy mind. Yoga, especially the mental or Consciousness Development side in Meditation, has become very popular over the last 35-40 years and is the most widely scientifically studied and validated system of self- improvement in the World today. Go to tm.org for a small list of the over 600 scientific studies that have been done on the famous Transcendental Meditation technique, only 1 of the many Yoga meditations. I've been practicing Yoga meditation now, since 1970, and each month and year that rolls by and one has the chance to develop deeper and deeper levels of restful alertness, the key to maintaining good and profound health, by own health has improved remarkably. In addition to the mental side of Yoga, there's the Eastern Astrology called Jyotish or Vedic Astrology. I think of Ayurved as being the body, and Jyotish as representing Vedic Psychology. You can tell in any one's Astrology chart, exactly what dis-eases one is pre-disposed to. If the Sun is weaker in ones chart, then heart disease is more likely. If the Moon is undeveloped then 'emotional problems' are very likely. Saturn, of course, is the king planet of Health & Disease. If Saturn is weak, imbalanced or undebeloved, then, health will be precarious and depending upon where it's aspecting or in the chart, then, particular manifestations of dis-ease will result. Even more importantly then the ability of Ayurved, (pulse diagnosis) and Jyotish to see the dangers of ill-health on the horizon; both systems have much to say about bring the Physiology & Psychology back into Balance and therefore health. Jyotish has a very important role in creating wonderful health, because the Mind is the most important ingredient of health. If the mind is not strong, healthy, even, or happy, then, problems of all kinds will result. Ill-health is only one of many problems that are likely if the mind's not in-shape! Even modern science today has discovered the Mind/Body connection that's an intimate part of Health. What's happening to the mind, then, necessarily happens to the body! So often we spend our time trying to find disease, viruses, flus, etc. but as the famous Ayurvedic proponent Deepak Chropra is fond of saying: " There is no magic bullet! The key to health is strengthening the Immune system of the body! " Health depends on the nervous systems ability to maintain balance. The key to the body's physical power and resistance to disease is to strengthen the mind. I encourage everyone who's interested in Health & Ayurved to look into the healing arts of Meditation & Jyotish.
