How can we produce more silence in ourlives.....? Thank you Mark for your very good suggestions Actually, trying's the wrong word, because any 'doing' in meditation, even trying to concentrate will be hard. I can relate to the above! The harder I " try " ... the worse it gets. The 'key' to transcending is in letting go. Any 'effort' from the individual's point of view and that keeps the mind busy, so this unique quality of 'letting go' or surrending needs to happen. However, the mind also needs to stay alert, and not fall asleep. In the TM technique you can learn 2 things. #1, the technique as to how to think a mantra in such a way that the mind doesn't concentrate or try and control the mind.... and #2, the specific mantra or sound, who's affects are known to take the mind in that all-important inward direction.... I'll keep your recommendations in mind for doing some yoga asanas and deep breathing first. Although ... I suspect this might put me in the " try to " mode ... the only thing that I have found to work at all is to consciously ... just stop thinking .. while I am doing something. Like walking or doing dreary mundane tasks that I could do blindfolded ... or even just sitting outside in the grass looking at the clouds. I seem to need some sort of diversion however, as odd as it might sound ... to really clear my mind. You're right here, too. But, it isn't a 'diversion' it's just the simple ability to learn to take the mind inward. And, the mind will transcend, motivated by it's own nature to enjoy. Each step of the mind inward, is an experience of more and more bliss..... so no! effort is ever needed.... We don't try to clear the mind as a result, we don't have to. If everything is already clear (still, nothing happening, nothing moving or to look at) ... then my mind seems to want to take charge. I'll keep working on it .. It would be one of my suggestions to learn how to mitigate or balance that Mercury too.... Thank you, you are right on the money with the Vata restless vacillation ... I'll look into ways to mitigate Mercury. When you can, I'd suggest you have a chart reading as soon as you can. When I do people's charts with Mercury in Pisces there's a specific 'remedy' that's very helpful. First thing, however, is learning where that Mercury/Pisces, is. take care Mark Kincaid Thank you again, Lynn
