Hi Mark,I am definitely interested in more formal readings on Jyotish and my approach towards Jyotish is more from the astronomical dynamics point of view rather than only future predictions.

I want to know the dynamics between astronomy & astrology. I wish to learn astology in terms quantum theory. I do not wish to earn money thru' astrology but if I can make a little difference in people's life thru' this knowledge.

My Jyotish has developed in similar ways. When I first started studying Jyotish, over 17 years

ago, now, I noticed a lot of supposedly very successful Jyotishees, were making predictions

that were not turning out true!

So, I steered away from those, and instead focused on how our charts fit us, and how we can

self-improve ourselves through our charts.

Also, studying the relationship between Astrology & Astronomy is a real hoot! It's quite amazing when you realilze that Astrology is the 'meaning' of the Astronomy.

I wish to learn astology in terms quantum theory.

I don't know quite what you mean by this statement, but it reminds me of the relationship that

exists between Consciousness and Jyotish, which itself is quite fascinating....

I do not wish to earn money thru' astrology but if I can make a little difference in people's life thru' this knowledge.

As much as I love doing Jyotish, my favorite thing today is in helping others learn Jyotish,

because the need for this great wisdom is emmense in the World.

Learning how our charts directly explains the exact karmic patterns that we're all, going through

is a great benefit of Jyotish.

I remember when the now famous book: Men from Mars & Women from Venus, first came out.

I thought, finally a good, mainstream astrology book!

Of course it wasn't a real Astrology book, but this book took just 2 of Astrology's primary ideas,

re. Men & Venus, and showed how insightful and benefical it would be to use this knowledge,

in such an important field like 'relationships'.

I was so inspired by that book, and my own experience in Jyotish these so many years, that

now, I'm finishing my first Jyotish book I call:

" The Stars Within " .

It's about all the different Astrological ideas, and how our charts, really fit us!

Query on malefic/benefic planets.

Hi Mark,

I recently have gone thru' your article 'Introductory Jyotish Series:

Part 2 " Understanding " Our Charts....... which is very impressive.

I have a query on the same. Once we have been able to identify our malefic & benefic planets, how to deal with them.

(PS, I'll also be writing some articles soon on the Philosophy & Practice of Remedial Measures, too.)

There are a number of 'traditional' ways in which people talk about how to strengthen Planets,

from things like gems, as you mention below, to mantras for particular planets, as well as things

to do, for example, " feeding the birds " , .... is described as a ttd, for strengthening Saturn.

I, however, because I've come out of the meditation, ayurved, self-improvement area, I'm much

more inclined to the 'consciousness' approach to self-improvement.

I read another article which says that there are two kinds of believers. One group recommends Gems particular to the malefics to strenthen them whereas the other group strongly opposes to this view. What is your view point.

I'm aware of this slight controversey, and I think for each person, you need to look at each person's

chart.

For example I have Mars/Cancer in my birth chart, and the one rule of thumb is to strengthen

the weaker, or in this ex. my Mars!

However, whenever I wear Red Coral, which is the gem of choice for Mars, it makes me sooo irritable,

and even too fiery!

To give an example, I am a Libra Ascendant having North Node (Rahu) in 12th house (Virgo sign), South Node (Ketu) in 6th house (Pisces sign) and my 8th house lord is Venus. I believe my malefics are Rahu, Ketu and Mercury (12th lord). I was given Gomed (Hessonite), Cat's Eye and Emerald to wear along with Blue Sapphire and Coral. The time when I was advised, I was totally ignorant about these planets and their nature. Now do you think I should continue to wear these stones. Apparently, I have not been benefited much but I do not know how much harm those might have already done to me. Below I am providing my birth data for you to look in to. I sincerely need your help in this regard.

In addition to gems, the main thing I recomend is prescriptions that will literally, go deeper into

the nature of the malefic planets, to strengthen them.

DOB : 30th Dec., 1959.

TOB : 00:55 hrs (just after midnight of 29th).

POB : Lg. 88d E 24'; Lt. 22d N 15'.

Also what is your Rising Sign or Ascendent?

Looking at your chart, even without knowing the rising sign, I'd say the most important planet

for you to understand better, and even strengthen,.....would be Saturn....

This is because Saturn is with the very important Sun & Moon, simultaneously....

In other words, it's probably acting malefically.....

Also, strengthening the Moon, will be very important, too,

because your Moon's a New Moon.
