Respected Mark,Namaskar, I think I got your point. To minimise the intensity of Sun one has to give up his ego and to improve the Jup one has to respect your elders and love to children, respect the teachers and gurujans. Do you want to say this ?

Dear Ramesh:

Yes, I think you're getting the idea, and what I've learned, is, to listen to my experience, and whenever, I found myself, living or experiencing any of that combustion, I allowed myself, to move in the direction of diminishing that combustion.

Now, having done that for awhile, I can now, happily say, I don't seem to have very much of that, anymore.

And, you're right, Venus and Mercury's combustions sometimes, are less severe, just because, as you said, they are always so close.

Sincerely,

Mark K.

ps... oh, yes, it's not so much that we have to give up our 'egos' but rather the imbalance of too much Sun, 'I', smothering as if the importance of those other important planets, ie. VEnus, Mercury, or Jupiter; really any combust planet, then, we achieve more imbalance.

Sun however, is a vital part of our Astrology, and we should not think we're better then anyone, or inferior!

Sun teaches us about our Self-worth, how in fact, we're One with the Universe, and after all a great child of God!

Respected Mark,

Namaskar,

I think I got your point. To minimise the intensity of Sun one has to give up his ego and to improve the Jup one has to respect your elders and love to children, respect the teachers and gurujans. Do you want to say this ?

Most of the time Venus and Mercury remain combust because these two planets are near to the Sun so Sun overshadow these planets.

Best regards,

Ramesh Mishra

Dear Ramesh Mishra:

I mean that whenever any planet is combust with the Sun, both sides, Sun, and 'that' planet need to be improved so that the 'combustion' goes away.

Part of the symbolism of that 'Combustion' is that the Sun, is overshadowing that Planet.

So, strengthening and improving that Planet will help it come out from behind the blinding light of the Sun!

However, at the same time, the Sun's dominating because 'it' was given preferential treatment and is too big!, or too overwhelming.

So, the other prescription is to 'minimize' the intensity of the Sun!

I know this process intimately, since I had both Venus & Mercury combust with my Sun!

All were in Leo, at birth, so it really helped when I figured this out, and began taking steps to increase my Venus & Mercury.

For Venus, I learned to 'give' more. For Mercury, I chose to think and to make sure my thinkings were clear.

For the Sun, it's glory is great, in Leo, but, it's intensity overshadowing the other planets, helped me see to be 'less' selfish, and 'me,me,me'....

Both these angles really helped my combustions...

ciao

Hi Mark, Namaste,

As you mentioned to strengthen the combust planet. Do you mean to strengthen the Lord Guru by wearing yellow saphire. And to minimise the Sun's influence through chanting the Sun's mantra. Suppose Sun is AK also then chanting the Sun's mantra will help. Need your advice. Thanks and regards.

Hi Mark, Namaste, A good stuff you have distributed to list members. So you are Guru . I came across one female native chart whose Guru is combust in Aries in 10th house

Dear Ramesh:

The Jyotish Philosophy of Exalted Planets gives us all something to aspire and shoot for in our own charts.

'Combustion' is one particular, unique, malefic situation that has it's own symbolic meaning for us.

I, 'had', 2 planets in my chart that were combust, so I know this one well!

hehe

Combustion, means the important place and power of those combust planets are lost to one, because the Sun, is overshadowing their reality.

Therefore one of the prescriptions for combustion, is to

#1) strengthen those planets that are combust...

and

#2).... to minimize the Sun's influence, or habit of overshadowing the combust planet.

Enjoy

Mark K.

ps... we all are Guru. We, each one of us, has the full potential of Guru, within us, waiting to be unfolded....

Hi Mark, Namaste,

A good stuff you have distributed to list members. So you are Guru . I came across one female native chart whose Guru is combust in Aries in 10th house with afflictions of Saturn from lagna and combined with Ketu. Interestingly lord of Aries Mars is also debilitated in lagna of Cancer. Mars is alongwith Moon.

Since Jupiter is combust here how do you interpret the role of Guru here ?

Not only the combustion of Jup. I want your help regarding the planets who are combust. Hope you may write an acrticle on the combusted planets.

Thanks and regards.

Jupiter Article Series

Part 1

" Introduction to Jupiter "

This morning I kept thinking of Jupiter, and how we've been neglecting 'him'

in all our previous discussions, hehe.

So, now, let's reflect upon Jupiter!

Jupiter simply put, means 'Guru' or teacher.

Therefore, from our teachers including Gurus, we gain knowledge.

Guru represents the entire 'teaching' situation from our kindergarten

teachers, to our Divine Gurus.

Guru represents the student, teacher relationship.

Guru, even, represents the parent, child relationship.

Guru, represent, the divine relationship between individual soul and God.

" Guru is God " ! some have said, so Guru or Jupiter, has something to do with

God.

Guru or Jupiter, rules, (naturally) the 9th House in Jyotish.

9th House, being the House of God.

Slightly different then the 5th House, which is called the House of Mantras,

vs. the 12th House, which is the house of the transcendental realm.

Then there are the moksha houses, 4th, 8th, & 12th, and since Jupiter has to

do with Liberation, understanding those houses may be significant in our

charts.

Jupiter, Guru, Moksha, Liberation, represents the path from ignorance to

Enlightenment.

This is the 'range' of Jupiter.

Consciousness is the Reality of Guru, or Jupiter.

Jupiter represents the Wisdom of Reality, Being or Consciousness.

Jupiter, therefore represents 'faith', and depending upon the Jupiter, in

one's chart, one either has good faith or doubting or even skepticism.

Jupiter represents 'Wisdom', learning, therefore studying, and all school

learnings are ruled by Jupiter.

Jupiter, in our charts, shows us how much strength of Guru, we're starting

out with.

But, there's an old expression that goes like this:

" You may have God mad at you, and in such a case, you can appeal to the

Guru!

But, if you have the Guru mad at you, who else can you appeal to? "

I love this expression, it helped me understand the subtle differences

between God and Guru, in my Life.

God is our Father, our very Mother, Guru is our teacher.

Guru therefore, has a different relationship, and where God, inspires us as

a child to their Parent, Guru inspires us as a serious, student.

The love between Guru and disciple, is one of the most precious

relationships in life.

Guru therefore rules teachers, even Mentors, is a kind of Guru-disciple

relationship.

Financial advisors, doctors, Advisors, Counselors, teachers of all kinds,

all, are Gurus.

Whether we find ourselves playing the role of a student or as a Guru, in any

stage of life; we should understand the precious realities of this Divine

Relationship.

We should take seriously our role when we find ourselves, being the student!

The student, should approach the teacher, or Guru, with the utmost sincerity

and openness.

If we find ourselves playing the role of Guru, then we should take with the

utmost appreciation, the divine role of teacher.

I remember when I came across this passage from the great sage Maharishi

Parashara, whom, many consider as the founder of Jyotish.

" If we do Jyotish, poorly, we'll come back as,..(and here are my words:

hehe), the worse kind of toad! "

I loved this expression because it cautioned me, to make sure that whenever

I sought to help, guide, advise, or instruct, that I'd remember the keen

importance to do this, well!

Guru therefore, should be uplifting, inspiring, and full of promise, hope,

and Enlightenment.

Contemplate the perfection of Guru, or Jupiter, in Cancer.

2 years ago, I was thinking about this when I watched the Guru, move through

Cancer, as it went through my 10th house.

After awhile, I felt that sweet presence of the Divine Mother, blessings to

all, as 'she', moved across my house of career.

All of a sudden I realized the Ideal, perfect Guru, is the Mother!

When the Guru, is Divine like the Mother, Guru instructs, cares, and is

compassionate as a Mother is to her children, then the Guru is perfect.

I think of that now, when I think of Jupiter.

Find the Jupiter in your charts, and ask yourself, what flavor of Guru, did

you start this life with.

Jupiter in Aries, has a very dynamic and outward and manifest destiny or

flavor.

Jupiter in Taurus, is a Guru, of the heart, practical, down to earth,

focusing on love, compassion and devotion.

Jupiter in Gemini, is Wisdom through Intellect. Gemini, is ruled by Mercury

so when Jupiter is there, there's an inherent love of learning.

Jupiter in Cancer, is Exalted!, Jyotish says. Find this as the Ideal, and

aspire to be like a Mother, loving, careing, compassionate, and considerate.

Love is the thread that binds Mother to her children, and like that, Jupiter

should love their students, and disciples.

Jupiter in Leo, has a paternal or Fatherly flavor to it.

Jupiter in Virgo, is seeking wisdom through Intellect, through critical

analysis, and through 'perfectionism'. Jupiter in Virgo, will be precise,

detailed, and discriminative. Don't be too hard on yourself, or others,

just because you can see the fault. The real 'perfection' lies in being

able to see the solution, which is perfect, Life!

Jupiter in Libra, is the Wisdom of balance, harmony and being a great

counselor, or arbitrator.

Jupiter in Scorpio, is the wisdom of researching Guru.

Jupiter here loves research and studying privately, for the betterment of

all of society.

Jupiter in Sagittarius, is one of the 3 best places of Guru. Sagittarius,

is so similar to the nature of Guru, that this placement bodes well, for

all. Guru, here, is a natural teacher, giver of knowledge, and loves

learning, is extremely curious and loves to travel in the mind, as well as

the physical World.

Jupiter in Capricorn, is fallen, weak, and undeveloped due to that Capricorn

energy. Because Capricorn represent 'materialism' or physical values, Guru

is asleep, in Capricorn.

Jupiter is 'debilitated' in Capricorn, because the energy of Divine Guru, is

being mixed up or lost to physical or material values.

I asked a friend of mine, one time what it was like to have

Jupiter/Capricorn. " Charles, I'm confused by your Jupiter. I mean I see

you as a great devotee, lover of God, even a good teacher, so I'm wondering,

How do you see this Jupiter/Capricorn part of you! "

He said: " All of my life, I've noticed that I seem to choose the

materialistic solutions to things, instead of the more deep, spiritual ones.

When I find myself at a fork and I reflect within, I used to find myself,

being practical, making materialistic choices, and as a result, the

consequences weren't that great! But, as I've gotten older, and wiser,

especially since knowing this about my Jupiter, it's allowed me to make

better, more spiritual choices! "

Jupiter in Aquarius, is slightly better. Aquarius, representing

" unconventional creativity " , therefore finds one seeing the unconventional

or untraditional possibilities, for life.

Jupiter in Pisces, is the 2nd Sign, with Sagittarius, where Jupiter's in

it's Own Sign. Jupiter in Pisces, being Pisces is the 12th and final sign

of the Zodiac, represents final liberation, and Enlightenment.

Jupiter in Pisces seeks power and illumination through transcendence,

through finding the Self, and gaining knowledge and wisdom, through this

inner awakening.

So, wherever you find your Jupiter, aspire for it's Perfection in the sweet,

loving nature and comfort, of the Mother.

From Jupiter comes, natural fulfillment of desires.

From 'good' Jupiter, power, comes good luck, boons, and grace.

Going to a Great, Guru, gives us the Dharshan, or Sight, or Light, of the

Guru.

The Guru illuminates through his Divine glance, or touch and we are

enlightened through this encounter.

Devotion to 'Guru', whether in the form of a physical, real Guru, or the

Guru, of the Universe, brings great luck and fulfillment.

Open your Heart, to the Guru, within.

It is, after all the nature of your Higher Self!

As you find your inner Guru, you'll begin seeing the play of the Guru,

everywhere.

At every stage there's a teacher, and a student. At every junction, there's

a higher and a lower.

These situations of subtle differences are for the sake of evolution.

One stage, reaching down, to help the other, gives tremendous strength, and

comfort along the path.

If we don't have this grace, life may appear very arduous, difficult and

lonely.

But, the Divine Guru, God, is there also at every moment, and in any

instance, the Divine may speak to you, or be heard.

We open our hearts to the Divine Guru, for the sake of answers, solutions,

help, and Divine Wisdom.

As we expand our hearts and minds, and our Consciousnesses, also, expand; we

find ourselves at the lotus feet of the Guru.

May the blessings of Guru, bless us in every moment of our lives!

Guru, moves through love.

As the student approaches the teacher, (Guru), with an apple, the Guru's

heart is moved.

In that stirring of the heart, the teacher is inspired to give what he has,

to his students.

The role of being a good student is vital for drawing to one, the boons of

Guru.

If we don't act respectfully, if we act conceited, or arrogantly, then the

Guru might not be found.

There's this beautiful passage in Yogananda's book, his Autobiography of a

Yogi, where he's talking to his Guru.

" But Gurjii, how can we help, (Sasha), if he won't listen to reason? "

" Sasha has not heeded our advice, or instructions, so now, the World, will

become his Guru. "

I loved when I read this passage, because it shows the importance of respect

for one's Guru, however, it also says that the Guru, can be found in nature

itself, even if a more formal Guru is not found.

Some of the greatest sages, or Enlightened Seers, or 'Gurus', didn't have a

formal Guru.

The Guru, exists in Life, itself, as our Higher Selves!

Opening ourselves, to the Guru, whether physically, or spiritually, brings

the blessings of the Higher, Self, to ourselves.

" The Higher Self, unfolds itself, by itself, to itself, for the nature of

the SELF. "

quote of one great Guru.

Let the Light of the Guru, which surely rules and flows through the Divine

Science of Jyotish; let that light, guide our way, and help us find the

fulfillments of our lives!

Jai Guru

Sincerely,

stress, pressure or pain.

Practice Divine Pranayama, to refine the breath, which will not only have a

great calming influence, but will also prepare the mind for transcendence.
