Dear Mark,

Thanks for answering my email, and I'd like to know more, if you have time. See below.

Dear Mark: I am working my way backwards through about 200 unread emails and arrived at this one. It makes me realize that my focus has been on the 12th house complex which has really defined my life because the problems from it have been so dominate. But your question makes me realize that until now I haven't really given much thought to the qualities of the Sun and moon and ascendant, except as they figure into this malific complex. Ascendant in Leo isn't so bad, but Scorpio sun--ouch! lWaning Leo moon--ouch! How can I see these in a positive light?

Dear Sharalyn:

Very good, realization! One of the greatest thing's Jyotish has taught me, is to not only understand my malefic area's better, but to also understand, 'all' the different and important areas of my life.

Once I found myself, in my Ascendent, the fact, that it's Lord, was somewhere, doing something, and that my Moon & Sun, too were also somewhere, I then started to realize, there were important, deeply, meaningful, and important wisdoms there for me.

For example, your Sun in Scorpio, there's really nothing wrong with your Sun, there.

Sun/Scorpio, by itself, just represent's a certain 'flavor' of Consciousness. Understanding what it mean's may be important, but,...!...and here's the key, there's NO, malefic influences upon your Sun, there!

Doesn't the fact that the lord of the 4th is in the 12th suggest that it is " gone to " misery and loss?

Ahh, yes, I see, what you're saying. Yes, there might be a quality of loss, to the 4th house,

but not necessarily to the Sun. Though some quality of it.

I have my 4th house lord, also in the 12th,...and for years, I felt much lack of peace of mind, (4th house, lord) due to it being in the house of loss.

But, as soon as I learned how to transform that part of me, then not only did Saturn begin to be benefic, but I could feel it having an immedate influence upon my 4th house, and qualities, of home, and peace of mind....

Moon in Leo, has it's own, interesting symbolism, and being in the lst house, also has a meaning there for you.

Specifically, what is this " interesting symolism " , and how do you see it as having meaning for me?

We've talked about that before, sorry, that's why I was being a little cryptic. hehehe

You've told me you sometime's feel, either bossy, or something like that...

right?

Moon/Leo, could represent good leadership qualites, (ie. Leoness) but it has to be watched,

that it doesn't be too dictatorial.

I think you pretty well understand what you're supposed to do, to change, and improve certain aspects of the Leoness, with Moon there.

I know that I should do less worrying (lord of the 12th in the 1st/moon) and to perhaps be less self-centered (moon-Leo) but what else?

I also think the 12th house, because it represent's in especially it's malefic symbolism, that

imbalances with losses, or expenditures, is appropriate...

When I leaned not to spend too much money, and especially save! then my 12th house became more positive.

Most planet's there, are symbolic of a lack of saving enough.

And, the 12th house, doesn't just represent expenditures, of money, it also represent's over expenditures, of energy.

People with Mars there often give too much, to activity, and therefore the loss that comes, is due to this.

So, learning how to be more balanced, in activity and rest, and especially give oneself, more rest, then normal, like learning to save money, give's immediate benefic relief to the 12th house.!

However, there's another symbolism there that might be important for you, and that's it's status, as being the messenger, (ie. Lord), of the 12th house.

I ALMOST understand what you are saying here, but not quite. Can you be more specific?

Well, Jyotish says that the Lords of our houses, sends an information related to their houses, to the houses, in which they're residing...

So, in this case, the Lord of the 12th, being in the lst, mean's some quality of 'loss', coming to the first house.

Though there is some goodness to this, ie Yogananda had this same exact situation!

hehhe

He had, too a Leo rising, and his Moon, lord of his 12th was in his first.

And, he was a life-time, long, renunciate. Now, that's what I call, 12th house, energy, dominating, the lst house's nature,...of myself....

Therefore, your Moon's the messenger of 'over expenditures, of loss', of Spirituality, coming out, and moving into different areas.

For me, like a lot of people, who also have their 12th house, lord's somewhere else, mine was in the 11th house.

And so much during my early, non-Jyotish, non-enlightened Jyotish, stages, hehheehe,... I noticed that I had a quality of loss, in my house of income.

By this token, would this mean in my chart a quality of loss in the house of self, or with the moon as loss of mind? I have a loss of self-confidence, a brave, even brash (mars) nature but under all that a deep lack of a sense of self, so much so that psychological tests in the past have said that I have problems with identity. My life has been about loss, and because of this I feel less attachment and more mature, but still with a deep, underlying sense of sadness. So how would one make the best of this configuration? How could the 12th house be expressed positively?

You said it so perfectly here.

You said: " My life has been about loss, .... "

Now, that's a classic description of the meaning and symbolism of the 12th house, being somewhere else.

Also you said: " ...still with a deep, underlying sense of sadness. " ....

This is especially telling this word, sadness. Sadness is often a Moon word, and so strengthening your Moon, may be important.

Also, Saturn in Cancer, may also be symbolic of this deep sadness.

Check out the Saturn article I wrote today.

It's especially about this Saturn in Cancer, placement.

When and as I've learned to give to myself, more and more, the deep, inwardness and bliss, that I need,...

all the emotional and deep sadness even depression I've had, is continuing to go, and be even, replaced by deep silence and bliss!

As I came to learn especially about the 12th house, especially because I had the all-important Moon & Saturn's, there, in my 12th,...and I learned how to transform, these, realities, into more positive, and beneficial forces, then, I began to understand the inherent symbolism of the 12th.

You probably have a similar situation, there with your Saturn there, already and your Mars, there.

PS....I just realized you also already have Saturn there in Cancer.

That made me realize, (in your previous question),..that I forgot to mention, that for you, this up-coming transit, of Saturn, into Cancer, should be less negative then for others, just because you've already got, that symbolism in your chart.

When you say, " that symbolism " , what do you mean? When I was in Guru Saturn, it was one of the happiest periods of my life because I had gotten married (Saturn is lord of my 7th) and was quite deliciously happy until he abruptly left (kujadosha) and brought me such great grief.

Ws the pre-marital period especially nice, for you?

This may have been due to your Jupiter being the ruler of the 5th house, but Jupter's also the planet for spouse, for women.

However, Saturn, being in the 12th house, mean's loss of 7th house, joys, because it's also like you said, lord of the 7th in the 12th.

7th house lord in the 12th often mean's loss of 7th house, realities...

This is a karmic quality, however, and again, is to show us we need to learn some quality of balance, ...

As you continue to grow in balance, because Saturn simultaneously rules both your 6th & 7th houses,...both....

health,...(ie. 6th house) and relationships, ie. parternships, all, will be better....

ciao

ps... you should take the Jyotish course, I'm presently teaching.

It's really wonderful, and you'd like it a lot!

check it out at the :

And, therefore, especially because you've already come to understand more, what this 'aspect' mean's, then, this up-coming transit, probably will be less negative...

Hope this helps...

Sincerely,

Dear Friends:

I'm writing to you as I'm writing about the 3 most basic aspects of our

charts.

I'm talking about the fact that the Sun, Moon & Rising Signs, all, go a long

way to describing

who we are....

So, if any of you would like tell me what it feels like haveing those 3

symbolisms, I'd love to talk to you.

Then, we can talk and figure out if there are any malefic influences in any

of those 3 and what we can do to change and improve those.

Hope all is well on this gorgeous Sunday morning
