I'd just like to add one thing. I think it is very important that we don't assume a holier then thou attitude about the so-called great principles of Jyotish.

 

For example, I believe that Jyotish is very incorrect in it's lack of emphasis on the transformative nature of life. This is a great mistake and as a result much of life, especially in India, is very poor as a result of this loss of knowledge.

 

Don't get me wrong, I love Jyotish and believe in many of it's profound insights and time honored and maintained ideas and principles.

 

However, this one aspect of Jyotish alone, has been quite disastrous for the East and has not allowed Jyotish to become well accepted in the West either.

 

My own Guru, his holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, agrees, and has said that this deplorable state of Vedic Knowledge represents the #1, need of our times.

 

All of his efforts for example have been in enlivening and revitalizing this ancient wisdom, so I think it is okay to question and examine whether the principles of Jyotish are accurate.

 

This is how we learn and assimilate knowledge.

 

Your examples of the effects of Saturn upon the Moon & Lagna are good one's and go to strengthening that principle.

 

I just thought it was an interesting question regarding the Sun and Saturn.

The Governator is having problems out in Cali with Sade Sati on his

Lagna.

 

If I recall alright, Indira Ghandi died during Sade Sati, but I don't

recall if it was to the Lagna or Moon.

 

John Kerry got his butt whupped during Sade Sati to his Moon; Howard

Dean got drubbed out of the race during Sade Sati to his Moon.

 

Saddam Hussein got toppled from power during Sade Sati to his Moon.

 

Yassir Arafat died during Sade Sati to his Moon.

 

This is just off the top of my head...the ancient principles hold up

very well - and this discussion is exactly the thing I am concerned

about the most. Changing the principles because of something we think

is, instead of finding the value and worth of that which has been

established. Not good.

 

But perhaps you can provide me with more examples per your

methodology.
