Dear Shripal & Amit, & All:

 

This question is a great one, because it speaks to the very heart of grasping the wisdom of Jyotish.

 

#1 is....

Learning to understand what it means for any Planet to be in a House...

 

#2, is to understand that same planet in the different signs....

 

and #3,.... to understand what it means for that same planet to also be the lord of other houses, is also very important...

 

But, remember, this,...identifing....

figuring out whether a certain Jyotish configuration is positive, benefic, or negative or malefic, is just the first stage....

 

the 2nd and even more important part, is figuring out how we can change that, or any malefic situation into a more positive one!

 

Now, today, that's my most interesting.... part!

 

Another way of figuring out that 'maleficness', is to ask yourself, generally,

 

1) identify what is wrong, that you're going through or wish was different,....

 

In otherwords, go backwards in the analysis.....

 

and 2)....once you've identified the problem....

 

let's say it's being accident prone,....

 

or health, and sickness problems, or losses....

 

or lack of self-confidence,...

 

or with lack of clarity of mind, or decision makings....

 

or lack of faith....

 

with each description of the problem,... you can fairly easily identify the Planet that corresponds with that...

 

for accident prone, look to Mars...

 

for health, and sickness problems and losses, Saturn is probably involved...

 

with lack of self-confidence, .... Sun needs to be looked at...

 

with lack of clarity of mind, or decision makings.... look to Mercury....

 

and with lack of faith, look to Jupiter....

 

etc...

 

So, then once you've identified the Planet, then this will help verify, that such and such of a Jyotish configuration is actually being malefic....

 

This is the technique I've used, especially when people have strong or exalted Planets, but, they're still experiencing the negative or malefic sides of that planet.

 

For example, some Exalted Saturn people still have a lot of Saturn grief, and even though there Saturn may be in a good house, there still must be a reason why it's acting malefically...

 

Then, I realized, that even with a good planet, one can still experience the negative side of it.

 

Look at Hitler, and Saddam Hussein, who both had their Exalted Sun's in Aries...

though these examples are also about the fact that their other planets weren't strong enough to balance their very good Suns...

 

but you get the idea...

 

I have several friends who have Exalted Saturns in their first and 12th houses....

 

Some of these people find themselves way out of balance, and experiencing the very uncomfortableness of a big, Saturn problem, inspite of their supposedly good Saturn's....

Hi Amit,

 

No not at all,when any planet is in any house, that

means it is in some sign and according to that it

signifies some qualities through that,so you have to

understand those qualities and than act in order to

revert if they are bad and enhance if those are Good.

 

Know how you decide qualities are Good or Bad.That

will be in next posting,got to go for a Lunch bye...
