Guest guest
Hi Folks, me again, sorry Have just finished reading Mark's wonderful and inspiring introduction and couldn't help think how of an attitude to life we share, as I am sure most of us here must do. I will try to reciprocate with the same at a later date but for the time being I can only offer this small contribution by way of an introduction. Debbie I am 45 and live in Gosport - across the harbour from Porstmouth on the south caost of England ... this is quite a good link for watching the Gosport ferry going backwards and forwards if you ever have nothing better to do! http://www.soulgrowth.co.uk/information%20page/harbour.htm I have 4 children Sophie (24), Nicholas (22), Sarah (19) and Holly (16). Holly and I are the only ones at home now so the house tends to rattle a bit now sometimes - but we are THE original girls behaving badly!! I have been divorced for 12 years. In my previous life - that is BD (before divorce) I was a practice manager of a dental surgery for about 15 years and I used to sell cosmetics on a part-time basis in the evenings (I was also area manager for the same company). In 1989, just ater Holly was born, I decided to start a course in astrology studying with a local group in Southsea. I chose to do this because basically having a virgo ascendant I was a workaholic (my sun sign is sagittarius by the way) and I wanted something to do for a 'hobby' ... and, as many of you have discovered likewise for yourselves, that was the life changing catalyst for me and now my 'hobby' has become my life for which I count my blesings every day. That led on to studies in tarot and eventually I became a student of the Cabalah. In 1992 I was forced to pull out of the society in which I was studying and in 1993, after much persuasion, I went it alone in terms of teaching initially with a small group of four people at home. Starting teaching co-incided with my divorce (well ... that's a surprise!) and also I was undergoing my nurse training at that time which went completely out of the window because of having to look after 4 young children on my own. I began teaching at Fareham college in 1994 which was a fairly big and important step forward in getting such subjects accepted by an academic institution ... and since that the courses - astrology and tarot - have become more and more academicised (I'm also reknowned for making up my own words!) till now when the first level courses are classed as vocational and assessed in the same style as an NVQ. I also teach other advanced courses in Astrology, Tarot and Healing. In the meantime - I have also studied with the Open University for a BA in History/Comparative Religion and a BSc in Psychology and a Masters in Education. I am currently involved in Doctorate research looking at how these course facilitate personal growth. I also lecture in psychology to undergraduates As for my beliefs I think that that will become obvious as I engage with the group and I really think that that is the best way to portray myself to you regarding that ... but feel free to ask any questions of me as and when you wish. Anyway ... I hope this gives you a bit of insight into me Debbie
