Dear Anne & Eberhard:

I agree with most of what Eberhard says here.

But, I believe also we need to interact with the world and those that would try and understand how 'Jyotish' or Nature's Astrology, works.

The article Anne sent about the case for what the Sun, Moon & Planets is actually very fascinating.

And Eberhard, I'd also like to say, Jyotish or Vedic Knowledge can only be true if it reveals more 'truth' about the actual world too.

Ayurved works because it helps explain the actual 'goings' on in the body, and mind.

Meditation is practical because real, life people take advantage of this knowledge.

Also, Jyotish has to relate to the real life people, in the World...

Also, Jyotish has to be open to explaining exactly how it works...

It's not this system that is only 'symbolic' as many Western Astrologers, are forced to say.

This is one of the reasons why I liked the article, though it was not coming from any profound level of 'truth' as in the Vedic system, still, we all, need to test out, the Vedic stuff, just as we would anything else.

What ultimates convinces, regarding 'a lot' of the Vedic, Jyotish, is that it works!

One fact kept coming to me day after day, week after week; and that was, that the Jyotish calculations, and principles,...fits so well, real live people, who I came into contact with.

After over 16 years, and thousands and thousands of people's charts, I can truthfully say, people's Jyotish charts, really seem to fit them....

Ultimately each one of us, has to look within, and have that sort of experience.

I'm not, saying that we just believe whatever 'Jyotish' has to say.

Our Western objectivity, can be very helpful at determining what is true or not for us.

For example, I've discovered a huge, emmense, aspect of Jyotish is not!, correct and that is the interpretative, aspect of 'fate' or fatalism.

This doesn't negate so much of the other, wonderful qualities, and I believe, actually strengthens Jyotish and makes it better...

AW: ophiuchus and scorpio moon weakness

Dear Anne,

of course there is a physical level, that we can observe: There are all those stars an signs, and the moon, sun and planets are physically moving through those signs. And we can experience those special qualities of the singns and build our own science based on both traditional knowledge and scientific methods. This is, how science and even astrology works today.

Vedic science is different. It comes from a field of total knowledge, the Veda, that was realized by enlightened seers, thousands of years ago. This is a very complete science and it's not based on experience. This is why it is hard to understand the Veda in our days, cause we are trained to believe in nothing but scientific facts. But the main key to the Veda is neither our intellectual understanding nore mere believing - it is by experience on the level consciousness. This is why Mark keeps on recommending meditation as an important part of realizing Vedic Astrology, Jyotish, which is a part of this ancient wisdom of the Veda.

If you are looking for a more detailed kind of astrology, Jyotish offers a tremendous depth. For example, there are not only those 12 sings, but it also provides a system of 27 sings, the Nakshatras. On this level, you can go very deep into the sublte aspects of a chart.

This is what I was thinking too.

Unfortunately there's not a lot of information on the Nakshatra system, but Philosophically it's very charming....

Imagine the 12 constellations are broken up into smaller packages of 'qualities'...

For example, Jyotish says there are approximately 2 1/2 natshatras for each sign...

Therefore, someone who was born in the very beginning of Aries, would have a much different, even if subtle, nature then someone born in the middle or at the end...

For most practical investigations, however, even the more general, 12 Sign or Constellation rendition of people's charts, is extremely accurate...

I have not found one person in all these years, that doesn't truely, fit their charts....

People live these Astrological qualities....

These 'qualities' are not only vibrant and make up people's very Psychologys....but

much of human Physiology can be described in terms of these very basic, 12 'body-types'..

Let me look at another aspect of Vedic Astrology, which is a science decribing the mechanics of space and time, which bulid the pysical level of the universe. On a more sublte level, you can see, that everything in Jyotish is based on mathematics. There is another aspect of Veda, which describes the world in mathematical terms. From this point of view you can realize that everything is made out of numbers and ratio. Each number has its typical " flavour " and also the ratio between all the numbers. Vedic Astrology is based on this Vedic Mathematics. After some years of ocupation with Jyotish, I have realized, that it's as perfect as the universe itself. The plantes, signs, houses etc. became more and more something like symbols for different aspects of a whole integrated reality, which expresses itself in an infinite number of ways. One of these ways are the cycles of the planets, stars and signs. Anotherone is our pysical body. Each expression functions according to the same basic cosmic principles and this is the reason, why Jyotish simply works.

dear eberhard: ARe you referring to Vedic sanskrit, here?

Quite an interesting other area...of Vedic knowledge...

Kind regards

Eberhard

Betreff: ophiuchus and scorpio moon weakness

Dear people,

I have understood that there is an ignored sign ophiuchus between

scorpio and sagittarius. My moon would be technically in it.

According to the vedic astrology the moon would be weak in scorpio,

where my moon would traditionally be in. However the new sign

opiuchus is related to healing, medicine and intuition. I guess

having a moon in this sign would be positive, because medicine is

also related to cancer, the moon's own sign. I know I am mixing

things up, but I'd like to discuss this with peopel, who are also

open to other forms of astrology, because peopel who are only open

to vedic, would say that opiuchus is not existing (according to the

traditional vedic)
