Could you explain the significance of " stationary Moon's nodes "

(Rahu-

Ketu)? Some Vedic astrologers seem to emphasize this phenomenon, but

I

can't find any source that explains the nature of the nodes being

stationary.

An example is that this year, the Moon's nodes were stationary Mar

20-Jun 4

at 17 degrees Aries-Libra. Again from Sept 12-Nov 25, the nodes will

be

stationary at 8 degrees Aries-Libra. Otherwise they seem to move

quickly

except for these stations. What causes the stations? Are they tied to

the

eclipses? What is the significance of the stations in Jyotish?

Dear Janna:

Sorry, it's taken me so long to get back in touch with you.

Rahu-Moon-Mars Transit

Dear Mark: RE: Tell me again how strong, or positive, malefic or

benefic is

your Natal Mars?

When I first started studying Jyotish, I read that my Mars/ Cancer...

in my 10th house, was not supposed to be very good.

In fact, I've noticed at times, either 'being too Marish',...Mars in 10th house,

got me in trouble, but also being in Cancer, more often, I'd find myself in situations,

feeling powerless.

Later I Discovered that Mars/Cancer can mean one is supposed to stand up more

for oneself.

I returned home, one time, many years ago, and my construction customer, had wittled down

my bill, saying I'd not done this or that...

and my wife, at the time, said: " Mark, your generosity is killing us! "

It was a very beautiful way in which to describe my timidness, in certain situations.

Then, years later, when I started studying Jyotish I realized I did have that tendencey, and karmic pattern, to have people trying to take advantage.

A few years ago, now, I had finished another job and was in the process of trying to collect my money,...and this customer, said:

" we are very happy with how it went, but,...because it went so well, we'd like to pay less! "

I couldn't believe it. All these years, I had strived to get better and better and here when I finally was doing a wonderful job, my customers still didn't want to pay me.

Well, I had had it. I remembered my chart, and how there was a habit, a pattern of people trying to take advantage, and how I should stand up for myself more.

And inspite of the uncomfortablenss, of not agreeing with people, I said: " Now, that the job is done, you can't penalize me for doing an excellent job. In fact, we had talked in the beginning of whether you should hire me by the hour or by the job, and we went through the plusses and minusss of both; but you chose, to have me give you an estimat. Let me ask you this, in another way. If the job had taken me longer then I had thought would you still be willing to pay me more? And, of course, they said no, so I said: Therefore you can't now, penalize me for a job well done! "

Well, they paid me, and though it was uncomfortable for many months between us, in time, they realized how unrealistic they had been and everything finally settled down.

So, that is my Mars story.

Oh, yes, one more thing. Are you familiar in Jyotish about the Shad bala system?

It takes the state of any planet and examimes 'it' thorugh the course of many of the divisional charts, like the rasi, chart, navamsa, and adds the relative strength, weakness of that planet, to come to a more complete, comprehensive, picture.

Well, when I looked at my Shad bala Mars, I was amazed, because in this context it was indeed, my strongest planet.

Surprise, surprise. So, I began to understand that a planet can be good, say for example, strong, in the Navamsa chart, but weaker in the rasi chart.

Therefore, I received benefit by knowing my Mars was stronger then it appeared in the Rasi chart; but,....it's obvious weaknesses, in that Rasi chart, gave me insight into a certain scenario where I really did need to pay more attention to it....in this life, especially in regards to my 10th House.

I have been told Mars is a " friend " in my chart (not sure I

remember why;

Mars is in Leo in your chart, right?

first of all, Mars is yogakaraka for Cancer rising people, meaning it's potentially

one of the best planets, because it rules the very important 5th & 10th houses,

simultaneously.....

Also, when I look at your navamsa chart, your Mars, which is strong in Leo,

is even more powerful, in Scorpio.

'friend' in your chart, because it's that yogakaraka....

Jupiter at 26 degrees is AK, and I'm in Jupiter dasa, with Mars

H-2 at 25

degrees) ) Ascendant (Ashlesha) Sun, Saturn, Mercury are in Cancer so

the

Mars transit will impact these planets with TR Rahu casting a 4th

aspect (and

NT Moon is Bharani as well). I have to work very intensely and keep a

balanced focus during this Mars transit and I'm on the alert for

potential

negative emotional swings. Sunday was difficult with the Rahu-Moon

conjunction, and I did feel a subtle wobble with the Gemini

Sun/Mars-in-

Cancer

I've loved so much watching all these transits, these last 16 years.

Each day I've learned something wonderful.

Then, after awhile, I began to think, maybe there could be something I could do,

to strengthen myself...so the next round of transits, doesn't effect me as adversely.

And that experience,...showed me the way...

the light!

really,...

into Jyotish transformation!

shift today and just worked through it. I am trying to get more of a

sense of

how Mars would act from a Jyotish perspective, malefically or

benefically.

Mars, like every planet, acts, depending...upon 2 qualities, especially...

#1... what house is it in....

and #2.... what sign....?

So, Mars in the first is one....quality....

and Mars in Cancer is another...

the mystery especially of Mars like this...

is....#1....you're supposed to stand up more for yourself.... during this transit....

but...!!!

#2...you're also supposed to be not being toooo Marish...cuz....Mars is kuja dosha, in the first house, and can get one in trouble....

if you know what I mean....hehhe

(I get potential negative emotionally combust situations

should be

avoided, and hard work and defending my own position may be the

remedy).

Yes, this is the right idea,...but keeping in mind, that a softer, stance,

though firm,....would be a good blend...

of strengthening Mars, and yet, not being toooooo Marish,...cuz of

'it's house placement...

But I do see more violence collectively accelerating through this

transit.

I don't find Mars in Cancer, causes more violence....

Look at the recent time, last year, when Mars was in Scorpio, moved through the fire sign,

Sagittarius and then went into Exalted Capricorn...

This coincided with the pushing to, and actual beginning of the war in Iraq....

and you could feel, that increasing....Mars energy....in the air...

You may be experiencing that increasing Mars, inside yourself...

cuz...of Mars' more malefic.....quality transiting....the first House!

I

completely agree with you (and Sanjit) that it is a matter of

consciousness,

and I approach astrology from that perspective, but I still like to

learn as much

as I can about the potential " astral " impact of the planetary

movements, which

is one reason I follow the transits closely (as I would the weather

on the

My experience as well.

Even though I've been meditating, and growing in Consciousness for over 30 years!

now....wow...

Still when I started adding the wisdom of Jyotish to that.... my evolution, life...

really took off!

physical plane, so I know how to prepare). So any insight into

Rahu-Moon-

Mars-in-Cancer you could share that would also be of benefit to

others who

follow your patient replies would be appreciated.
