Dear Friends:

I like this quote of today, because it speaks to the very heart of Jyotish.

In no other Philosophy that I've ever come across, are the negatives, or the bad habits, are so well understood as in Jyotish.

Jyotish has this fabulous concept of 'Malefics' vs. 'Benefics...'.....

and explains that the positives in our lives are due to our Benefics and the problems...due to Malefics...

It's one very important thing to be able to identify which are our malefics,

and quite another to begin to figure out how to change or transform....our malefics...into better habits!

If their is enough interest we can discuss some of the many ways in which we can begin to strengthen our Malefics, as the unwanted, 'bad habits' of our lives.

There is some great precedent to utilizing....Ayurved, also as a great way of transforming our malefics into their truer, Benefic Nature!

Moon today, finishes the Sign of Capricorn, which has been a good time to reflect on your Ambitions...

Moon is Waning, though still very big....

and their is only 1 Malefic aspect to be concerned about.

Mars is in Gemini, at 25 degrees, and due to it's 8th House aspect, aspects the sign and 25th degree of Capricorn, as well....

So, if you're feeling especially, rough, fiery or 'pitta', this morning, don't buy into it,....it's just the glance of Mars...which will quickly diminish as the day unfolds....

Now, you asked about Jupiter...

Okay,...

It is true that Jupiter, generally goes faster then Saturn, but because of this notion of 'Retrograde', at specific times, it'll seem, like Planets are slowing down, and even going backwards...

Jupiter was 'Retrograde' for a very long time, and only recently began it's direct motion.

Jupiter had gone down to the 15th degree of Leo, at the end of it's Retrograde motion and as such come to a very close association with Rahu, which has been moving through Aries, where it also aspects Leo, due to it's 5th House aspect.

And about Rahu, you're right, it does, almost always go clock wise, which is the opposite of the other planets...

Right now, Rahu's at 16 degrees, too... though at times, it too, seems to slow down, and becomes 'stationary'....and sometimes, even goes opposite to it's normal motion....

If you want to try and see this....

I think the easier way to understand this is first draw a set of consective 'circles' around the Sun....

Take a piece of paper, and put the Sun in the middle.

Then, draw 6 lines circling the Sun.

The first Circle represents the orbit of Mercury.

The second, that of Venus and

the Earth the third.

Put the Earth anywhere on the 3rd orbiting circle.

Let's for example, put it to the left, just for an example.

Now, from the Earth, draw 6 lines through the Earth, creating 12 equal spaces or slices of a pie.

Now, the Sun's at the 24th degree of Taurus, so wherever your Sun is in your drawing....put it towards the end of Taurus, to represent that 24th degree....

Now, Venus is also at the 24th degree of Taurus, and you can tell from your drawing, that it could be in the 2nd circle from the Sun, but,....

it can be put either between the Sun and the Earth, or....

on the other side of the Sun...

Which do you think it is...?

Venus is combust and Retrograde....?

Ans:

It's on the inner side, because all the Planets go counterclockwise, except for Rahu and Ketu.

This means that if Venus is going 'backwards', especially in reference to the Earth, it must be on the inner side of the Venus orbit... and you can see, exactly why Venus is called combust, right now, too.
