Guest guest
All: On Friday night here in southern california, I have some motivation in me to write this. To me, this has great significance. It comes from within. I hope you find some significance in this small essay. I hope it helps all of us to feel the infinite power of the Self. In Indian scriptures this world of ours is called " karmabhumi " , the land of action, because this is the plane where we perform actions, good or bad, for which we receive good or bad fruits. No matter what actions we perform in this world, we receive their fruits. For this reason, we should always keep an account of ourselves. We should not try to keep track of others, of how many sins others have committed, how many mistakes they have made, or how much more advanced they are than we are. Instead, we should always remember what we have done and what we have to do in the future. We should check to see how much self-control we have developed, ho wmuch equanimity there is in our minds, how much steadfastness we have achieved. We should check to see how much we have been able to rid ourselves of our desires, our anger, our jealousy, and our tendency to hate other people, to rejoice at their misfortune, to feel sad when we see them advance. We should see how much compassion we have acquiired, ho wmuch we have learned to love honesty and truthfulness, how loving we have become. We should always be aware of our faults and always try to increase our virtuous qualities. Above all, we should check our attitude. It is our inner attitude and feelings that determine our behavior. Not only that, it is these that determine our experience of the world. There is a great and mysterious statement: " The world is as you see it " . Whatever feeling you have within you is the feeling you will project onto the world. Therefore, according to our own vision, the world becomes good or bad, pleasurable or painful, a storehouse of happiness or a mine of sorrow. It is your own attitude that bears fruit for you and makes you who you are. If a person insults that God who lives within other human beings and then goes to a temple and prays to an idol of God, will God be pleased with him? Tell me, will he? In every heart. God dwells perfectly,in His fullness, Therefore do not use harsh words, do not speak bitterly to others, because your beloved is sitting within. I conclude with great emphasis: The greatest virtue, the highest action and the best form of worship is to look upon other people with the awareness that the Self is in all. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti. Guest guest
Hi All, This reminds me of the story of the family who left a city to find solace in another town. When they arrived at the gate they asked a beggar if the town was friendly. The beggar asked: " What was the town like where you left " To that the family man replied: " Oh, it was friendly, most of the people we knew were nice, we just didn't want to stay there because of the corruption. " The beggar replied: " You will find the same here. " Later, another family from a distant town asked the same beggar: " Will we find this town to be safe and friendly? " To that the beggar replied: " What was the town like where you left " " Oh, " replied the family man, " It was awful, nobody liked us, we couldn't find work, and we nearly starved while trying to make a life for ourselves. " To that the beggar replied: " You will find the same here. " At 04:54 AM 5/29/2004 +0000, --Sanjay Aggarwal wrote: >There is a great and mysterious statement: " The world is as you see >it " . Guest guest
Very nice story!!! The True Moral is: When certain people look upon themselves with a low attitude, they will also see the world with that attitude. They will project their own feelings onto others, and then they will begin to see them in the same wretchedness as they see themselves. Then they will begin to find faults in other people, to look at them with the eye of sin, and to discover impurities around in everything. Therefore 1st of all we shoul dunderstand our own greatness and our own divinity. Then we will understand the divinity in others. Once we begin to realize that God himself dwells within the human heart, once we begin to respect ourSelf, we will automatically respect others. Then we will begin to see that the world is very beautiful, and we will behave beautifully with others. A person who sees truly sees that no person, creature, or object is apart from Him. For such a person there is only equality in the universe, and the virtuous qualities come to him. Only a person who sees with this attitude can be called a virtuous person.
