Guest guest
Hi Dear Bettina and Debra, Just about all of what I'm using here to describe Gandanta comes from Light on Life. There's a principle in Jyotish which assumes that the strength of a juncture-point, which is called "sandhi" is weakened and as they have written in Light on Life, "ill-defined due to the forced intermingling of two differing energies. A sangama (the junction of two rivers) is auspicious, because the two energies merge completely on meeting, but a sandhi (literally, a 'joint') is merely a zone of transition between two energies which retain their own individual characteristics." "While most sandhis are inauspicious for worldly matters, because the free flow of prosperity becomes obstructed at such zones of transition, they are often auspicious for certain spiritual endeavors." "The Gandanta ('End-of-the-Cheek') portions of the nakshatras form another class of sandhi which Jyotish finds inauspicious... " In this part I love this description and actual meaning referring to this part of the celestial faces and shows clearly what they really are saying about Gandanta: "Ganda means 'cheek' and/or 'the whole side of the face including the temple', which makes the Gandanta segments the 'junctures' of the celestial faces that look down upon us. Gandanta is particularly inopportune because it is a double sandhi, a juncture of two rashis as well as two nakshatras. Grahas located at these points are very weak, and indicate major problems in the natives' life unless the grahas involved are strengthened by appropriate remedies." Gandantas also can be very auspicious for spiritual things. I find using this particularly helpful in telling health related issues in a chart, when a planet is in Gandanta, it definitely shows a weakness or problem in that area, (also other indications as well) such as this case with my friend and her Moon Gandanta in Ashwini (in Aries). This Moon shows up this way for her in quite a few ways. Where the Gandantas, which indicate particularly inopportune sections, occur is at the very beginning of the fire signs and the very end of the water signs. So in the nakshatras then these portions are the last 3.20 degrees of Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati, and the first 3.20 degrees of Ashwini, Magha and Mula. Here is the data for the chart I've been referring to: 13 July 1955, 00:59, Bridgeport, Conn., Lagna and Moon both in Ashwini, so you can also check this out and yep we can study this chart Debra... I would love to hear how others would do this and keep this fresh and open so that we can learn from each other... an environment where we are free to explore learning and not worry about where we are making mistakes or are unclear. Need that to really learn, for me anyway, and these groups are meant for learning for astrologers, not so much for readings where someone can go and make contact separately for that, and be sure to get an experienced astrologer. All best wishes, Patrice ______________ Patrice, what is a Gandata Moon? .... Bettina Patrice,Is there a possibility to study this chart of this yong woman? What too ia a gandanta Moon? Are you refering to the chart from the Nakshatra stars?Debra
