Dear Chris:

 

This particular Venus & Sun combustion may be unique; ie. only twice a century, but the basic situation with Venus moving retrograde....and Venus being combust with the Sun.... is more common.

 

What Jyotish feels about Venus, Sun combustions is that the significations of the 'combust' planet, ie. Venus is temporarily 'lost' to the person, or our world.

 

Think of Venus' light like a bright candle...shing in the dark...

 

but as that 'little light', gets closer and closer to the Sun's magnificant rays, ....the particular rays of Venus' candle... becomes more and more....lost in the Sun....

 

This means the individual importance of Venus.... it's nature and place, is being temporarily lost .... during this 'combustion'....

 

So, the warning, Transit speaking is to not be surprised, if the world seems temporarily lost of it's expressive, Venus quality....

 

And what is it 'lost' to?

 

To the Sun, which represents the Self, but also, selfishness, or ego, too...

 

so, people who have Venus too close to their Suns in their charts,.... have the Sun.... overshadowing.... the importance of their Venus...

 

and the Prescription...is to find your 'Venus'.... and come to understand the importance... of a stronger, Venus.... not overshadowed....by the Sun!....

 

So, now that we understand the 'flavor'....of Venus being combust, then we should understand 'better', what this unique; twice a century combustion may be like...

 

When I looked at pictures of what the phenomena would be like...

 

The pictures showed the Sun....in the background...and Venus.... as if, lost.... in the overwhelming.... light of the Sun....
