Guest guest
Bettina, Very good questions, and so very sorry it's taken me this long to get back to you. I use whole signs as houses, which makes things that much more simpler for me. If a person has a late Cap Asc but the Sun in early Aqr, the Sun is in the 2nd house. End of story. I do make use of specific degree areas, much in the same way western astrologers do orbs, but I use them within the context of the Vedic method, for the most part. For example, take Graha Yuddha, which is something I see is being discussed up here these days, with the upcoming Mars-Saturn conjunction coming on. In order to have a planetary war between two planets, they have to be within one degree of conjunction or closer. So that's one example of " vedic orbs " . I don't consider out of signline aspects much in either western or vedic astrology for the most part...I tend to go for the heavier guys, if you know what I mean...the most obvious stuff I go for. And I let the rest of the chart sort itself out. It's real easy to get lost in the muck and mire of Vedic astrology...there are so many techniques, methods, this and that, that you can really get yourself jammed up real good. I always tell people all the time, if they're serious about learning Vedic astrology from a book, get anything by BV Raman, get Light on Life, and get busy. Hope this answers your questions.
