" How to Discover Your Life Purpose

or

Career.... "

Dear Friends:

This has always been one of my favorite uses and abilities of Jyotish/Astrology, how to know one's life purpose.

Traditionally, one's 'life purpose', is a question more about career, ....so traditionally Astrologers look at

o one's 10th House, What is the Sign that's in the 10th House...

o Secondly...What is the 10th House Lord?

o Thirdly,.... Where is that 10th House lord? Is it happy or sad?

o Fourth.... Are there any Planets in the 10th House, ...

o Fifth.....Are there any Planets aspecting one's 10th House... and finally...

o Are there any Planets aspecting or influencing the 10th House Lord...

Okay, let's look at this step by step.

o Write down what is the Sign that's in your 10th House...

Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces....

Ask yourself this question:

How is this energy expressed...in my 10th House?

In other words, can you feel, that energy, it should be appreciable as a kind of back drop, or subtle energy literally pervading one's 10th House!

For example, I've got a Libra Rising so, Cancer's in my 10th House...

For many years, especially BJ, or before Jyotish, hehe, I had no conscious appreciation of that quality, .... though later when I started studying Astrology I did kind of relate to Cancer....

Then, when I got more and more knowledgeable, I realized....'wow, I do have a kind of Cancer energy there in my 10th House...'

It's almost imperceptible....and it's not generally an energy, a 'guy' wants to admit is the back drop of his whole career, life!

Give me a nice masculine energy, Scorpio, or Capricorn, or Aries! hehe...

but then I realized it's the flavor the quality that most clearly....expresses how I truely like to be in career...

Feel that energy...re-read different descriptions of the different Signs, and see if that Sign that's supposed to be in your 10th House...see if that fits you!

Write down the qualities, the characteristics...that 'fits' You!

o Secondly, What is the Lord of that Sign, in your 10th House....?

The Lord of every Sign, is a Planet that's 'internal constitution' is supposed to be so similar with the Sign, Constellation or collection of stars, that's represented by that Sign, that it feels the most happy....

So, for example, in my 10th House, Cancer, is there, and Cancer is ruled by the Moon. Again, didn't really do anything for me, when I was younger...

o So, where is that 10th House Lord...?

The House that the Lords, are in, gives very pertinent information in regards to the affairs of any and every House. In this case, see if you can 'feel' that thread of connection between the 10th House, and it's Lord..

When I was in India, we heard the Jyotishees say: 'The Lords, will send back a kind of mail, or message, how they're doing...'

That effect, reflects some of our 'karma', in this example, of our 10th Houses... and that' important in helping you discover your 'dharma' or Life Purpose!

In my case, my 10th House Lord, the Moon, was in the 12th House when I was born. This had very distinct and obvious effects...

#1 I was lost to my sense of career... I remember thinking about so many things growing up, but it was like I just couldn't get clear....

Now, that's the 10th House lord in the 12th...not a very good start, I have to say!

Now, supposed your 10th House Lord is in the....

o lst House....what does that mean....? Consider the quality of the 10th House lord, consider what that planet is? Is it an obvious benefic, Jupiter, Moon, Venus, Mercury, or the Sun....or is it one of the so-called functionally malefic Planets like: Saturn, Mars, or even the Sun....is sometimes considered a malefic...

Can you 'feel' the quality of that Planet...how it says something to you about your 10th House....

That Lord is ruling your 10th House, so you should get more acquainted with it's more precise meanings....

For me, it was the Moon, though especially being in my 12th House, it was like I was 'lost' to the 'feeling' of it, and that reflected the over all effect of my 10th House lord being in the 12th...

o If your 10th House lord is in the lst House, ...look into Self, birth, personality

issues. 10th House Lord in the 1st...has a lot to say to you, regards, your

Career. 10th House Lord in the lst house is often the 'sign' of someone who

has a lot of 'leadership' in his career, or even some 'fame', perhaps; other

significations, to be considered....

o If your 10th House Lord is in the 2nd House, can you feel the flavor of your

Career, has something to do with Wealth, Money matters, Food, or Speech?

Follow the situation of the 10th House, into the nature of each House and you should feel, the quality of that House, flowing back to your 10th House...

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 3rd House, are you interested in the Arts,

Music, Performing arts, or Communications....

Follow the significations of each house and see if any of them have a special relevance for you, in your 'ideal' Career!

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 4th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Homes, property, real estate, Psychology, 'Mothering', 'heart',

'hearth', or 'home'.....?

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 5th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Children, Education, Stocks, Trading, or Mantras!

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 6th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Health, healing, Law, or.... Doctoring?

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 7th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Partnerships, Marriage or Business partnerships....

You may be married to a working partner, or work with your spouse, in

Career....

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 8th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with 'Transformations', with 'endings', with 'death', with .... chronic or

frustrating habits, compulsions or addictions...

Follow the Flavor of the Career, Lord, into the Flavor of the House...

Find that 'flavor', write it down...and eventually when you've looked this way, at each of the other areas of your chart, the whole thing will make more sense for you!

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 9th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Spirit, Religion, God, or Authority?

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 4th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Business, trade, commerce?

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 11th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Money matters, Income, 'gains', ....etc...

o If your 10th House Lord is in your 4th House, are you interested in anything to

to do with Losses, debts, or the positive aspect of the 12th House, anything to

do with 'Spirituality', the transcendental kind, God,....the Absolute?

Wow, now we're cooking... When I read this side for the first time, I thought, 'hey, that really does fit me? I mean I do have a deep, careerish kind of feeling for wanting to know what is life all about.

I was a Philosophy and Education major in college and as early as I can remember I wondered about the purpose of life, and what is the goal? What is the end of life?, all about? Very 12th Houseish...

Now,...

o Are there any Planets in your 10th House...?

Specific Planets will create or reflect very unique qualities as to your House of Career.

Figure out also if those Planets are happy, mediumly positive, or unhappy or negative...

For me, I had Mars in my 10th House, and though Mars is supposed to be very good in the all important 10th House, it was not supposed to be happy in Cancer...

Though, preJyotish I had no clue why. What I noticed however, was I had two sides to me. I had a soft, gentle side and I had a more fiery, Marish side... and the two together kind of made me dizzy.

See, if you can identify and understand that particular flavor of all the Planets in your 10th House...

It's reflective of something unique about your karma or qualities of your 10th House...

Now,

o Are there any Planets Aspecting your 10th House....?

For me, I had Jupiter in the 6th House, in it's Own Sign, in Pisces, and due to it's 5th House aspect, it was casting a direct influence into the House of Career.

When I was younger I thought I wanted to be a doctor?

Then, later I thought I'd be a Philosopher?

Then, later, perhaps an Educator or Teacher?

Jupiter's in the 6th House of healing, so doctoring is so possibility,

certainly being the 'Philosopher', is very reflective of Jupiter...

Also, Educator or Teacher were also very real possibilities.

You can also look and see if that influence of any planet into the 10th House, is a positive one.

In my case, Jupiter was aspecting Cancer, which is it's Sign of Exaltation, so this would reflect a much more positive and benefic quality of Career.

And as it turned out I did graduate with a double major of Education and Philosophy.

Eventually, I became a meditation and Ayurveda teacher, both of which seem to reflect this positive aspect.

o Now, are there any Aspects onto the 10th House Lord?

This, too like aspects onto the 10th House, itself, will also reflect something very concrete regarding career.

For me, again, my Moon, Lord of my 10th, was in the 12th...

and that now, seems clear to me why I had such a strong, 'careerish' feeling for wanting to know about God, and the 'ends, goals of Life',....

Now, there are 2 Simultaneous aspects onto my Moon, which is the 10th House Lord.

Jupiter, positively placed in it's Own Sign in the 6th,...is casting a good Yoga, onto the Moon, so very positive associations...teaching, possibilities with Career...

But, I also have Saturn in the 12th House, with the Moon, and Saturn was reflecting a predominantly negative or malefic effects upon my Moon, and therefore, onto the 10th House.

I had much delays, and disappointments, frustrations, confusions regarding Career, and till I started to learn how to strengthen and improve my Saturn, .... more negative effects then positive....

Also forget to mention the Moon, as 10th House Lord's effect being one House away from the Sun, in my 11th....

That too, very small Moon, in the 12th...with Saturn...reflected all the problems I was having in Career.

Finally, I should mention this confusion with Mars in my 10th House, led to doing Construction on and off, since I became an adult, approximately since, 1980.

I also, simultaneously have been a meditation teacher, and Ayurved like I said, for an even longer amount of time, since 1973. And Jyotish teacher since 1988.

So, here's a good way to look at every aspect of one's 10th House of Career...

All these significations do very well, describe our qualities, karmas and circumstances,...

all wrapped up in Career, for us.

However, there's another aspect which I like to mention regarding Career, and that's the fact, that in Truth....

each and every aspect of our chart, together, simultaneously,....goes to reflect our true, full, Career, or what might be called 'Dharma'.

Dharma is a a sanskrit word which mean's 'life purpose'.

Dharma or Career, can be looked at through all the details of one's 10th House,

however...

Dharma is also the Knowledge and Wisdom of each and every aspect of our Charts...

When I finally understood, literally each and every aspect of my Chart...

a huge 'aha' came to me, and I got it!

Wow, this is my true dharma, I'm really meant to live, and understand...each and every aspect of my chart!

And each one of us, are meant to do the same thing!

PS.... now we've learned how to examine and understand the 10th House, but this scenario is really the same for each and every other aspect, or House, in our Charts...

We do this procedure with our 10th Houses, and then, we can do it with each other aspect of our Chart!
